Shared Calendar Exchange 2010 SP3
We have a medical firm with Exchange 2010 running. They want a scheduling calendar that can be edited by any of the scheduling coordinators and some doctors. But they also need to see it on their mobile ios and android devices. They have about 75 users that would need at least read access to the calendar.
What is the "best practice" for setting up a group calendar like this and make it visible to mobile devices?
Thanks,
Derek

Pre Deployment Analyser Error - Exchange upgrade 2003 on windows 2003 to 2010 on windows server 2012
Hi,
We are trying to upgrade our exchange server 2003 residing on a windows server 2003 to an exchange server 2010 on a different server running windows server 2012. The functional domain level is 2012. We are getting the following error when we run the pre deployment analyzer.
Error Site 'Default-First-Site-Name' cannot support Exchange 2010 servers Site Default-First-Site-Name Active Directory site 'Default-First-Site-Name' does not contain any global catalog servers running Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 or later. This will prevent Exchange 2010 servers from being installed into site 'Default-First-Site-Name'.
Could we get some guidance regarding the steps that need to be taken to make the environment conducive to the upgrade.
Thanks

Can't send as distribution group over IMAP
Not sure if this is by design. I set up a distribution group and granted a user send as right via
Add-AdPermission -Identity GroupName -User UserName -AccessRights ExtendedRight -ExtendedRI ghts "Send As"
I can confirm that the settings took effect because when I run it again, I get
WARNING: The appropriate access control entry is already present on the object
I tested sending as via OWA and it worked, but when I try the same thing using the same account set up over IMAP in Outlook I get an instant bounce:
550 5.7.1 Client does not have permissions to send on behalf of the from address
The difference is, over IMAP, Outlook doesn't pick up the exchange group from the address book so I simply type in the address I want to send as. In OWA, I select the distribution group from the address book.
I made sure that Require that all senders are authenticated is unchecked under Message deliver restrictions for the distribution group.
So finally, the question: How can I send mail as an address assigned to a distribution group over IMAP by just typing the address in the from field?
I've been battling with this for a while now so I welcome any suggestions!
Exchange EMC and EMS error strong name required
Hi, I have Exchange 2010 installed in 1 server with CAS HUB and MB role. I recently updated to SP3 and everything went fine. Today, I was trying to open the EMC and it displayed this error
I checked the registry to verify the settings, according to an article in TechNet, it should look like this
All DLL are located in the BIN folder in the Exchange installation folder. I used the .NET framework tool SN.EXE -Vr * to reactivate strong name validation. The Exchange Management Shell displays the same error, I dont know what else to do
Any help would be appreciated
IMAP cross-site connectivity failing after mailboxdatabase DAG failover
Exchange 2010 SP3 RU6
We have 1 DAG that contains servers in two separate AD Sites:
Primary Site A:
1 CAS/HT Server
1 MBX Server
Secondary Site B:
1 CAS/HT
1 MBX Server
When
we failover a mailbox-database from SiteA to SiteB, Outlook 2010 informs clients they need to close/reopen their client due to an administrative change and OWA intelligently redirects to the new CAS URL. This is great.
The problem is we support IMAP as well and in the above scenario, all client connectivity fails as they are
endlessly prompted to enter in their credentials. The only way an IMAP
client, can connect to their mailbox is if they manually change their
incoming/outgoing server addresses with the hostname of the new server
hosting their mailboxdatabase. This is a problem we'd like to overcome.
Our understanding, based on the following documentation, is that imap
connectivity should be redirected automatically by a CAS server as it
will know the final destination of the users mailbox.

POP3 and IMAP4 Cross-Site Connectivity
In earlier versions of Exchange, you had to perform a manual configuration
step to allow your POP3 and IMAP4 clients to connect to their mail from
one site in your organization when their mailbox was located in a
different site in your organization. By default, Exchange 2010
automatically proxies from a Client Access server in one site to the
correct server.
Thoughts?
Exchange 2003 with Windows Server 2012 DC's only. Migrate to Exchange 2010.
I have the following situation:
An Exchange 2003 SP2 server in an 2003 FFL and DFL domain with 2 Windows Server 2012 DC's. There are no Windows Server 2003 DC's anymore. Exchange 2003 is still functioning properly, but the eventlog is showing me some errors about LDAP which is unable to find an old 2003 DC.
I know this is not supported, so we want to migrate to Exchange 2010 as soon as possible.
What is the best way to do this? Will coexsitence still work? Do I have to add an 2003 DC's again?
Please advice. Thank's in advance!

Securely Configure HT to Accept E-mails from non-Exchange SMTP Gateway
Hi
We have setup a new Exchange 2010 environment. We are not using Edge Transport servers as SMTP gateway, rather using a hosting service named ProopPoint. The ProofPoint gateway accepts e-mail for our SMTP domain and after performing anti-spam etc. functions, is supposed to send e-mail to internal Hub Transport servers in our domain. We need to allow the ProofPoint servers to send e-mail to our HT servers (HT servers should accept connections from ProofPoint servers).
I know that I can go to the “Default <Sever_Name>” receive connector on each HT and on the Permissions Group tab check the “Anonymous Users” to allow ProofPoint servers to be able to submit e-mails to HTs but that won’t be a good idea as (I think) this would make my HT as “OPEN RELAY” (pls. correct me if I’m wrong) as that Default connector is configured by default to listen from any IP addresses. So want to know:
- If this is the only way I could achieve this?
- If I configure a separate “Receive Connector” on my HT servers and configure only IP Addresses of the ProofPoint to be able to submit e-mails to HT – Will this work?
Also, is there a way I can restrict user(s) in Exchange 2010 to send only 30 messages per minute?
Any ideas and/or supported documents would be highly appreciated….
Regards
