Dear Boss,

I would like to configure Exchange server 2010 with DAG . I have test lab . i would like to tell my test LAB setup .

One domain controller win-2008 X 64 Ent 

Two Exchange server 2010  ( Role - Client Access, Mailbox) Each Server  Two Network Cards with Different Classes  

IP  192.168.44.50 , 51

IP  10.0.0.10 , 20

One Exchange server 2010 ( Role - Hub Transport )

IP 192.168.44.53

Pls tell me how can i create DAG 

Note:- i would like to test below steps 

1. Exchange server1 may be down or network link down how server 2 to work automatically without any disturbance 

2. Exchange server2 may be down or network link down down how server 1 to work automatically without any disturbance 

3. Hub transport server maybe down how it can be work ?

My MSExchange Management Event logs have stopped reporting.  I did get just 6 lines today, but it seems to just not report any current data.  I am really hoping that is because I haven't had to do much to manage it lately.

For a Windows based box, it really seems "unusual" not to have more entries.  Anybody seen something like this before?

Hi All

Current setup of my lab is below - 

MAIN SITE - Named Head Office

Root Domain Controller : IP 172.29.154.1 / 255.255.0.0 

Two node DAG : - Mailbox servers - DAG NAME - DAG1

Casarray (casaarray1 , and casarray2) servers

One hub transport server 

Total 6 VM servers are running in the head office site

Created a new AD site for name Branch Office and installed a addition domain controller with IP of 10.10.10.1/255.0.0.0

Now i would like to implement the DAG between the sites .

how can i implement, i mean what are the best ways to implement the DAG between two sites

1. shall i go for  typical installation of exchange (CAS, HUB , MAILBOX ) 2010 in main office and Branch office . will it support DAG between two sites for typical installation?

2. shall i install one more Mailbox server alone in MAIN SITE and install CAS and hub in one server and mailbox alone in the branch office site? i mean -  two Mailbox servers in each site 

any other best ways other than above two points , the main intention is to implementing, testing and learning the site resilience between the sites and want to know the stuffs in and around DAC

Hi,

I'm looking for a way to disable auto-mapping only on specific mailboxes on our Exchange server.

We find it to be a useful feature but due to poor comms in some locations it tends to cause speed issues for some users.

I know we can disable it on a per user, per mailbox basis using the command
Add-MailboxPermission "mailbox" -User username -AccessRights FullAccess -AutoMapping:$false

but I'm looking for a way to disable the feature on just a set of mailboxes instead of having to run the command for each new user.

Note I don't want to switch off the auto-mapping feature entirely, just on the mailboxes we know get used on our remote sites.

My organisation has 2 forests that have a two-way external trust between them.  An exchange federated trust has also been setup between the two businesses.  We use GalSync to sync contacts and our GAL.

In most cases operations within Exchange/outlook seem to work well.  Users in forest 1 can view Free/busy information from forest 2 and vice-versa.

When a user from one forest tries to book a meeting room in the other forest the meeting room stays as tentative and they do not receive confirmation email.

I have the rooms set to AutoAccept replies:

Set-CalendarProcessing " Room 1" -AutomateProcessing AutoAccept

Questions:

1) Is this caused by having an 'External' domain forest trust?  Would this be resolved by making the trust an Internal one?

2) Is there a way this can work without changing the domain trusts?  As this might take a while for the other business to put in place.

Please help?

Hello,

I have two exchange forests which are currently working fine and able to send mail and share calendars between each other.  I am trying to move mailboxes from "Source.local" domain to "Dest.local" domain.

Both are Exchange 2010 SP3 (not the exact same update level, and both have different versions of exchange management console.

I have used ADMT to migrate a user account from source to destination (test@source.local), then disabled the account in the destination.  The destination mail server is acting as a resource domain.  The user account will stay active in the source domain.

If I try to use the GUI to do the move request, I first have to add the remote exchange forest to my GUI console.  When I do this, I get an error when trying to load the remote exchange forest, the error is:

Due to potential compatibility problems, cant connect to version 14.3.195.1 server using version 14.3.123.4.  To resolve this issue, please remove the sub-node from the console tree and add it again specifying a server with a matching version.

Ok... so I move on and try via powershell.  I get stuck here with the command and error when run on the target domain mailbox server:

New-MoveRequest -Identity "test@source.com" -Remote -TargetDatabase "Mailbox DB 01" -RemoteHostName "serverA.source.local" -RemoteCredential $RemoteCred -TargetDeliveryDomain "target.local" -WhatIf

The operation couldn't be performed because object 'test@source.com' couldn't be found on 'dc02.target.com'.+ CategoryInfo          : NotSpecified: (0:Int32) [New-MoveRequest], ManagementObjectNotFoundException+ FullyQualifiedErrorId : 13705E67,Microsoft.Exchange.Management.RecipientTasks.NewMoveRequest

Any ideas or tips?

Hi,

I just installed Exchange 2010 SP3 on a SBS 2011 machine. The installation completed successfully, but after the installation OWA isn't working anymore. When I browse to OWA I get the following message:

I did a reset for the OWA vritual directory, but nothing helps..

Suppose I have a large amount of mail to move relative to the available bandwidth.  Rather than use a weekend maintenance period to move all the data in one batch, is it possible to stage the migration by starting to move all the mail data over, but use the suspend move when ready to complete option?  And then when we're ready for the actual cutover, resume all moves to take the final delta?  Has anyone successfully used this approach?  Any issues to watch out for?

We have a scenario where we have some users on our network who use s web-based mail service but have AD logins as they need access to internal resources (file and print). 

We have been asked to set up access for these users to the meeting rooms. An initial idea was to create a mailbox for each of these people and set up them up with an email address in the internal domain (company.local.co.xx). This has allowed them to use the meeting rooms but they cannot retrieve the free/busy information. When looking at available times, get the standard message "Suggestions cannot be provided because free/busy data could not be retrieved"

It's not really clear why this isn't working. Suggestions?

Hi guys.

We have Exchange 2010 SP3 on 2008 r2 enterprise.

now we are thinking about having DAG. I know that recommendations is to have the same OS on 2nd Exchange server but still is it possible to make DAG between: Exchange 2010 SP3 on 2008 r2 enterprise and on other side Exchange 2010 SP3 on 2012 R2 STD?

I have created a Role Group named "User and Group Management" which has the following roles:

Active Directory Permissions
Distribution Groups
Mail Recipient Creation
Mail Recipients
Mail Tips
Move Mailboxes
User Options

It is designed for Tier 1 Support Staff to make simple changes.

I am interested whether it is possible to introduce further restrictions in order to prevent them disabling and/or removing mailboxes? Is it possible to customise the context menu based on Role Group membership?

Exchange 2010 sp3

i used to have a casarray but since my HUB2 went down, there is only one HUB1 left. also, something happened to the WNLB such that i have to shutdown the CASarray too.

now we have many applications pointing to the ip address of the CASarray and are failing because the ip is no longer online.

can i add the ip address of the downed CASarray to the remaining HUB1 server? are there any possible problems with that scenario?

Hi,

Ive an Exchange 2010 SP3 server which wont open Exchange Management Shell. When opening it, I get the following:

The term 'ImportPSSession' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program. Check
 the spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is correct and try again.
At C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\bin\connectfunctions.ps1:64 char:18

The only difference I can see between this and another server which works is get-modules shows the output below on the one that works but the one that fails doesnt show anything. (This could be a symptom though rather than the cause.)

Exchange 2010 SP1 management console fail on local exchange servers.

The following error occurred while attempting to connect to the specified Exchange server CAS123.domain.co.za

The attempt to connect to http://cas123.domain.co.za/PowerShell using “kerberos” authentication failed: Connecting to remote server failed with following error message: The WS-Management service cannot process the request because IP address cas123.domain.co.za is invalid. For more information, see the about_Remote_Troubleshooting Help topic.

However do note that the Exchange Management Shell also fails with the exact same error on both my CAS and Mailbox servers.

Though I am still able to open both tools via my backup server.

All ells works fine.

nslookup resolves the exchange servers as they should be. Frankly I am stumped as to the invalid IP address.

My exchange environment have been running problem free for years and this problem only occurred last week Thursday after some .NET updates.

I am able to receive email but not able to send to the internet via a Send Connector.  I am using OWA to send email out and when I do a Message tracking it shows FAIL as eventId and does not go out.

Send Connector is configured to send email directly to the internet.  I have enabled "use the external dns lookup settings on the transport server" and added external DNS IP in transport server properties

I want to disable the feature in OWA that allows a user to edit their photo.  I got the following command to work but I want to run this for all users and the following command requires me to add a name.  We have 5 different databases.  Is this possible?

Hi!

After moving a mailbox between databases (EMC or EMS), there is a warning: Warning: Failed to clean up the source mailbox after the move. Erro details: MapiExceptionUnexpectedMailboxState: Unable to delete mailbox. (hr=0x80004005, ec=2634).

Users can successfully access mailboxes, but these mailboxes stay in disconected mailbox node on EMC, and it is shown on EMS afer command [PS] C:\> Get-MailboxDatabase | Get-MailboxStatistics | where {$_.DisconnectReason -ne $null} and their databases are the old ones.

We have recently upgraded from SP2 to SP2 RU4, but we´re not sure when this problem started.

Our Environment:
Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise SP1
Windows Roles: File Services, Web Server (IIS)
Exchange Server 14.02.0318.001 (Build 247.5) Roles MBX, DAG with one more MBX identical Server
Antivirus: Forefront Endpoint Protection Version: 2.1.1116.0
Virtualization: Yes – Hyper-V
Applications: Backup Agent CA, SCCM Agent, SCOM Agent, HP Management Tools

Any idea?
