Gmail - 550 550 5.7.1 Missing purported responsible address (state 17).

Hi,

we have this problem, occasionally our exchange bounces mail from gmail.

gmailuser@gmail.com is configured to forward messages to our exchange mailbox user@exchdomain.com

and sometimes, but not always it bounces. Why is this happening? I find it hard to believe that gmail would not have SPF record or incompatible header format with exchange?

SenderID fails are configured to reject mail.

NDR:

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

     user@exchdomain.com

Technical details of permanent failure:
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 5.7.1 Missing purported responsible address (state 17).

"AvailableNewMailboxSpace" When is it used?

$

I've been reading through the forum and white paper, but I don't believe I've actually found the answer: When it is actually used? The name of the parameter implies it is set aside for new mailboxes. If so, does this meanexisting mailboxes will still cause the db to grow in size; that white space is reserved for newly created mailboxes to occupy?

Thanks in advance for clarification!

Exchange 2010 to 2003 Issue with RPC over HTTPS Proxy

Hi,

Were currently Migrating from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010, whilst were in the process of moving we've been trying to get rpc over https for the 2K3 users but with testexchangeconnectivity.com I’m currently getting the following error: Attempting to ping RPC endpoint 6001 (Exchange Information Store) on server EX2k3.domain.local. The RPC_S_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE error (0x6ba) was thrown by the RPC Runtime process.

Exchange 2010(front end) Box:

Servername: EX2K10.domain.local
External DNS: mail1.domain.com
RpcProxy\Valid Ports: EX2K10:6001-6002;EX2K10:6004;EX2K10.domain.local:6001-6002;EX2K10.domain.local:6004

Exchange 2003 Box:
Servername: EX2K3.domain.local
External DNS: mail2.domain.com RpcProxy\Valid Ports: EX2K3:6001-6002;EX2K3:6004;EX2K3.domain.local:6001-6002;EX2K3.domain.local:6004

A few More details: There’s no firewalling between them. In ESM 2K3 is set to a back end server(have tried setting to a front end also). They are both listening on port 6001. Basic Authentication is enabled on both.

Any help would be great!

Public folder question

Hi,

We have an exchange 2010 SP1, and we access this Exchange 2010 only with OA/OWA en POP. we have an contacts list that all of our company's contacts are in this  list. to make this abvilble to our users we had an .pst file from this contacts list, and we did create folder under the All Public folders and called it company contactsand then copy the contacts.pst to the Public folder\ All public folders\Company contacts, after with did change the access rights to this folder and our users can from Public folder\ all public folders\Company contacts access the tel nr ,email address ,etc.

But when a users open a new email (from OA) and click TO then navigate to address book they cannot see the Public folder at all. but when myself (with domain admins right) go to the same location can see the publick folder but when click on it can not see any content there.

Any idea to make the public folder availble under address book.

Thanks

Hi all,

Can somoeone tell me if it is a requirement to have at least one instance of Exchange 2010 installed into what is an Exchange 2003 forest to allow for a cross forest migration to an all Exchange 2010 forest. My understanding is that it is and that the MRSProxy service is used on each to allow for proxy of new-moverequests to Exchange 2003 mailboxes.

Any advice appreciated.

Exchange 2007 to 2010 coexistance - ramping up with a temporary back end server

$

A company wants to upgrade their environment to exchange 2010. They have an existing 2007 environment.

They have ESX vmware platform and want to go ahead and build out two front end CAS/HUB servers and a temporary backend mailbox server.

Their requirement is that their production mailboxes be moved (migrated) to a hardware 2 server DAG solution, but they are not ready to purchase hardware until 1st quarter 2013.

So, the proposed solution is to build out 2 FE's and 1 backend mailbox server in vmware now and get coexistance running , confirmed, tested, test moving mailboxes, mailflow, etc.

Once that is complete and they purchase the two mailbox servers, we'll add them in, create the DAG, and then remove the temporary mailbox server.

Do you see any flaws with this, or something I'm not aware of?

I know I'll need to move the OAB generating role to one of the new DAG members from the temporary mbx server befiore I decommission it. Anything else that would need to be done or that would impact the environment?

thanks!

Josh

Exchange 2003/2010 Coexistence Internal/External DNS

I need help clearing up DNS confusion for 2003/2010 coexistence.

My setup:

2003 Front-end server, 2003 Back-end server, and will be adding two Exchange 2010 multi-role CAS servers in an array (I will be performing NAT back to CAS array from my firewall)

Current external DNS:

exchange.company.com (Public IP pointing 1.1.1.1 to 2003 FE server for OWA and ActiveSync)

New external DNS:

legacy.company.com (Public IP pointing 1.1.1.1 to 2003 FE server)

exchange.company.com (new Public IP 2.2.2.2 pointing to CAS array)

autodiscover.company.com (new Public IP ? pointing to CAS array)

Question:  Can I use the same Public IP 2.2.2.2 for autodiscover.company.com and exchange.company.com or will I need two separate Public IP addresses for the CAS array?

Outlook 2010 other user is receiving my emails

$

I have recently transferred to a new company and have gone through the user setup for AD and Exchange. I have a username of tcarter. Everything setup without error. When I went to sign in to Outlook 2010 for the first time, it setup a mailbox of tcarter2, instead of tcarter. I didn't notice it as I was pretty "click happy" as I've done this setup a million times before.

I later find out that my emails are going out as tcarter2. I go to email myself from my gmail account and find that it is going to another end user, acarter. After looking through his Exchange settings, I find that he has a second alias set for tcarter. I remove that account from his and rebuild mine. He no longer has tcarter anywhere on his mailbox setup. Yet, he is still getting my emails.

Weird thing is, when you now send an internal email to tcarter, it comes to me. But when you send an external email to tcarter, it still goes to his account? Any ideas?

Can't send mail to external domain

Hello,

I'm in the middle of a migration from Exchange 2007 to 2010.  I have one 2007 CAS/Hub/Mailbox server, one 2007 Edge Transport server and now one 2010 CAS/Hub/Mailbox server.  I have created a test account on the 2010 server and I can send and receive messages internally.  I can send a message from an outside domain (gmail) to the 2010 test account.  However, I cannot send message to an outside domain from the 2010 test account.  The messages are sitting in the queue of the 2010 CAS server which indicates to me there is a problem connecting to the Edge Transport.  I have 3 send connectors and one of them is a smarhost.  When I try to [PS] C:\>Start-EdgeSynchronization, the result is "CouldNotConnect".  I'm at a loss as to what to try next.  Any suggestions?

Multisite DAG routing question

$

We have a two Exchange 2010 (SP1 Rollup 5 v-2) servers participating in a DAG.  Server A is in company HQ and Server B is in an offsite COLO facility for DR purposes.  The link between the locations is a 20MB metro-area link (MAN).  It used to be one flat network.  When it was a flat network the MX record for the company point to the internet connection of Server A, and the DAG routed outbound e-mail through Server B (and subsequently Server B's internet connection) even though both servers were part of the Send Connector in Exchange.  We have recently implemented AD Sites to separate HQ from the COLO to address problems like workstations authenticating to the DC that was in the COLO.  Since this change inbound and outbound SMTP traffic all seem to use only Server A's connection.  The DAG still replicates information to Server B, but since there are no active database copies there, I am guessing that all SMTP traffic is being kept to the local site in which Server A resides.  Is there a way to designate Server B as my "preferred" sending server without removing it from the send connector.  I would like the outbound traffic to leave on that internet connection so I can alleviate some congestion on the HQ's internet connection. I feel like what I am trying to do might be in violation of the spirit of the normal AD Site setup, but I am looking for a way to restore the old setup of mail into Server A and out of Server B under normal operating circumstances.  Thank you for your time.

Prepare AD for Exchange 2010 sp1 to sp2 upgrade.

Hello, I'm preparing to upgrade my Exchange 2010 site from SP1 (RU6) to SP2 (RU5)

I can find documentation for running the following AD prep steps

setup /PrepareSchema (/ps)

setup /PrepareAD (/p)

but I don't see any reference in either the release notes or installation examples of needing to run the last step usually required for Exchange AD preparation.

setup /PrepareDomain (/pd) or (/pad)

Since to domain objectVersion attribute stays at 13040 from SP1 to SP2 does that mean this last AD preparation step is not required in an upgrade from SP1 to SP2?

Hi!

After moving a mailbox between databases (EMC or EMS), there is a warning: Warning: Failed to clean up the source mailbox after the move. Erro details: MapiExceptionUnexpectedMailboxState: Unable to delete mailbox. (hr=0x80004005, ec=2634).

Users can successfully access mailboxes, but these mailboxes stay in disconected mailbox node on EMC, and it is shown on EMS afer command [PS] C:\> Get-MailboxDatabase | Get-MailboxStatistics | where {$_.DisconnectReason -ne $null} and their databases are the old ones.

We have recently upgraded from SP2 to SP2 RU4, but we´re not sure when this problem started.

Our Environment:
Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise SP1
Windows Roles: File Services, Web Server (IIS)
Exchange Server 14.02.0318.001 (Build 247.5) Roles MBX, DAG with one more MBX identical Server
Antivirus: Forefront Endpoint Protection Version: 2.1.1116.0
Virtualization: Yes – Hyper-V
Applications: Backup Agent CA, SCCM Agent, SCOM Agent, HP Management Tools

Any idea?

Thankyou in advance!

Shadow Transport Redundancy - Duplicate messages when an HT is stopped.

Shadow redundancy was left turned on as default.

2x EX2010 Hub Transport with RGC to Exchange 2003 cluster in site1. Both HT’s can send over the RGC.

2x EX2010 Hub Transport with RGC to Exchange 2003 cluster in site2. Both HT’s can send over the RGC.

EX2010 RU4, EX2003 SP2

1 of the HT’s in Site2  was turned off to apply a hotfix.

During this time E-mails from Exchange 2010 users in site1 which had been sent to Exchange 2003 users in both sites the day before or earlier were then received again, presumably coming from the Shadow cache on the other HT.

These messages had definitely been delivered via EX2003 so we do not understand why they had been retained in the cache (if indeed they had been).

Shadow redundancy has now been turned off

Hi guys. I'm installing Exchange 2010 for the 3rd time as my other configurations were not perfect. I did a safe uninstall on 2 of the three failed and the first one I accidentally killed the machine before cleaning it up properly. I have cleaned out my domain using ADSI edit though, and as far as I can tell it it sterile. Now, when I try to install Exchange 2010 on a brand new 2008R2 server it gets to the Hub Transport Role and fails. The error is:

Error:
The following error was generated when "$error.Clear();
if( ($server -eq $null) -and ($RolelsDatacenter 0ne $true) )
{
Update-RmsSharedIdentity -ServerName $RoleNetBIOSName
}
" was run: "Database is mandatory on UserMailbox. Property Name: Database".

Database is mandatory on UserMailbox. Property Name: Database

I really need help with this one guys, so big thanks to anyone that can offer assistance.

Thanks
