Get mailboxstatistics from a CSV file

$

0

Hey guys,

In my organization we have close to 3000 mailboxes. I got the task to find the total size of specific 1000 mailboxes.

I have the CSV file that has:

FirstName, LastName, Alias (email address).

I want to run get-mailboxstatstics from the CSV file and pipe total size of my 1000 mailboxes to another CSV file.

Let's assume my CSV file is: users.csv

What would be the PowerShell script to execute this?

Problems with Topology

One of our Domain Controllers at a remote site had lost connectivity beyond the tombstone lifetime. I recently discovered this and attempted, with limited success, to run connectivity tests (which all pass) and repadmin /kcc consistency checks (which also passed). I continue to get errors in the event log but think (thought) that these were because I had not restarted replication to that DC yet. Today, however, the Outlook Web App and cellular Active Sync have suddenly stopped working. OWA gives the error "The process failed to read the Exchange topology in the allotted time".  I am looking for suggestions of things to check etc. I realize that this problem may not really be an Exchange issue so much as an AD issue but I need help.

Cross Org migration

Hello all,

I hope you are well !

So here, we having an issue regarding Exchange Migration.

Here is what we have :

Domain A (abc.com) with Exchange 2007
Domain B (xyz.com) with Exchange 2010

Both server are on the same site and they can communicate (PING)

We build a trust between thos two domains, we did migrate user from Domain A to Domain B using ADMT.

Now we want to migrate their mailbox from Domain A to Domain B...I've read a lot of documentations on the web, without finding any clue to my quest.

Does someone can help me achieving this (moving users mailbox from Domain A to Domain B), without buying expensive Quest Software.

Best regards,

Stephane

Public Folder co-existence

Hello,

We are preparing the migration of ex2k3 to ex2k10 mailboxes but before the public folder needs to be migrated first

I installed an ex2k10 server with the following roles:HUB+MBX

The replication works fine (Public Folder Tree + System folders)

Users mailboxes are still on ex2k3 and will stay there for a while

Unfortunately folders migrated to ex2k10 are not more available from Outlook client (Outlook 2010) and from OWA as well

The default public folder store of the ex2k10 mailbox database is the store of the server it self

Do I need to move mailboxes to ex2k10 ?

Could it be possible to remain on ex2k3 and access folder on an ex2k10 server?

Thanks for the help

I created a second Mail database server, added it to the same DAg the original server is in and unsuccesfully tried to create database copies on the new server. ETROEX10 is the first server (with the active databases). What does work? Create a new database on the new server and create a copy on the first.

Error: database was not active??? But everything seems to work. (besides beinig unable to make a full backup ...failed consistencey check...since I added the second server to the DAG -> problem 2)

Any ideas?

Routing Group Connector for Exchange 2010 & 2003 co-existence

$

I installed two Exchange 2010 multi-role servers in my environment to go along with my Exchange 2003 Front-end and Back-end server.

From what I've read typically a Routing Group Connector is automatically created between my Exchange 2003 Routing Group (five connectors) which do show up in the 2010 Exchange Management Console under the Send Connectors tab.  However when I go a -GetRoutingGroupConnector no values are returned.

My goal at the moment is to test passing mail between Test Users on 2010 and Production users on 2003.  Is this possible?

Exchange 2010/Outlook 2007 - No Free/Busy is available for select resource rooms/calendars

$

Hello,

We're having an issue with folks using Outlook 2007 to schedule appointments/meetings and not being able to see Free/Busy info after a migration from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010. We've retained the distribution groups from Exchange 2003/AD 2003 and we'd like to assign a Universal Security Group (which consists of a few hundred people) to be able and view/edit Calendar resources in Outlook/Exchange. This has been an ongoing issue for quite some time, and recently discovered that if individual users are assigned to the resources with permissions, they can see Free/Busy info, but not when the entire Distribution Security group is assigned.

Our questions is, if a Universal Security Group cannot be used to assigned "global" permissions to a resource, what kind of a group can be used to grant permissions all at once instead of individually adding hundreds of users to a resource? Or, is the security distribution group incorrectly migrated from 2003 to 2010?

Please assist in shedding some light on this matter.

Thank you.

Query about using Mail Tips to warn when a attachment is over a certain size - but still send.

Hi,

My organisation doesn't have any size limits configured for sending or receiving emails, the business dicates that we can't prevent emails being sent. Inevitabley, we've had instances where a user has sent an email of 10Gb+ which causes various problems.

I'd like have a mail tip warn the user when they attach a large file but crucially I still want them to be able to send the email. I know it can be done in Outlook using VBA but I'd like to configure it on Exchange, don't thik it possible but I gratefully receive any bright ideas.

Thanks, Ulsterfry.

After applying Exchange 2010 SP1, all our users are unable to reply / forward emails in OWA (light version or 'enhanced' whatever it's called now).  Some emails they cannot even click on without getting error messages.  I've already fixed the "Domain Names / Names have spaces in them" problem, this seems to be a different issue.  Here are the details of the error message:

some users are having a problem they can not delete some e mails - also they can not download e mails to PST - others can but the e mails will be duplicating when they are downloaded on psts

so o moved one mailbox from a DB to another (new) and he can now delete those unwanted large e mails

i did not test the pst issue yet

the question is, is there a way to fix the corrupted user mailbox with moving the mailbox to another DB

also is there a way to delete specific e mail from all users mailboxes

Exchange 2010 Source IP 255.255.255.255

$

We are in the process of migrating from 2007 to 2010 and currently have both in co-existence.

We had a problem where mail was not delivering from the Exchange 2010 to the 2007 server. All other mail was working ok (2010 to 2010, 2007 to 2007, external > Inbound etc..)

When I looked at the queues on the 2010 server I could see the mail being queued with the error -'451 4.4.0 Primary target IP address responded with: "451 5.7.3 Cannot achieve Exchange Server authentication

Next when inspecting the emails in the queue I see the following details:

Message Source Name: DSN
Source IP: 255.255.255.255
SCL: -1

Following on from this I added the 255.255.255.255 address to the newly created receive connector on the exchange 2007 server and the emails started flowing. If I remove the 255.255.255.255 address from the connector and add the servers actual IP the emails stall again.

My question is, why does Exchange 2010 list the source IP as 255.255.255.255 as opposed to the actual IP of 192.168.X.X?

Any suggestions appreciated.

GAL issue

It seems like for the past week a lot of users reporting that when they open GAL in their outlook their default veiw is "all rooms" instead of "Global Address List"

I know it can be changed in outlook but is there a global way of changing that.

Like i mentioned before it is only been going on for the past week and no work was performed on exchange

Exchange 2010 UCC SSL Certificate

Hi,

About to renew my SSL UCC however wondering if ANY internal domains are required?  I'm fully aware of external ones required, however is internal one required for autodiscover to work.   All my settings are correct for internal and external..

I'm not 100% how autodiscover internally works, via AD i assume?  I guess one option is to have internal DNS to re-direct external URLs?

Thx!

PowerShell script to bulk export PST from a CSV file

$

Hello,

I got the task to do a bulk export to PST file of 1000 users in my org from a CSV file.

I got the following PowerShell script working just fine:

$Users = Import-Csv c:\users.csv

foreach ($User in $Users)
{

Write-Host "`nStarted processing $User.FirstName" -ForegroundColor Cyan

$filename = $User.Alias

New-MailboxExportRequest -DomainController colodc2   -Mailbox $User.Alias -FilePath "\\colo\PST\$filename.pst"
}

My follow up question is:

Now I got the task to export only emails that are prior to July 18th 2011  (old emails) for each mailbox.

What should I add in my PowerShell script to accomplish the task?

Moving to Ex2010 - ActiveSync not working when proxying or redirecting

$

Hi Guys,

Exchange 2007, all roles on a single server and a 3rd party product for the SMTP gateway (MailMarshal) that's setup as a SmartHost in Exchange.

Just built a 2010 box on SP2. Moved a test user across and all mail delivery works fine. All good.

However we have a number of Windows Phone devices that connect via ActiveSync.

activesync.domain.com points to the firewall which NAT's to the 2007 CAS IP. The activesync.domain.com address is specified in the ExternalURL of the ActiveSync config within Exchange.

Works fine on 2007, always has.

However our test user who is on EX2010 is registering with Exchange via ActiveSync, however just sits "syncing" in Outlook on the mobile device. In the IIS logs on the 2007 server I am seeing:

2013-01-18 12:24:35 172.16.8.161 OPTIONS /Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync/default.eas User=test.user&DeviceId=DEBC97F049768F243D0541EF7A260A6E&DeviceType=WindowsPhone&Log=RdirTo:https%3a%2f%2factivesync.domain.com%2fMicrosoft-Server-ActiveSync_Error:MisconfiguredDevice_ 443 domain.local\test.user 213.xxx.169.xx MSFT-WP/7.10.8858 451 0 0 265

The Error:MisconfiguredDevice_443 seems to be a rather good starting point but I'm not getting anywhere in researching it.

I would have thought that the Exchange 2007 box gets the ActiveSync request, realises that the MB is on the 2010 box and proxies to the 2010 DB server. However I can't find any entries for ActiveSync in the IIS logs on the 2010 server....

To confirm, I have two Exchange boxes with CAS, HT and DB roles on it. One is 2007 and one is 2010. 2007 is production and has an activesync.domain.com SSL on it. Client are connecting to it fine, and the ExternalURL is set to activesync.domain.com.

If I have a mailbox on 2010, when the end user connects their client device to activesync.domain.com the user does not get their mailbox downloaded and gets stuck at a "Synchronising" status. Errors then appears in the 2007 IIS logs. The 2010 server is not publically addressable - only the 2007 one is.

Ideally I would like the 2007 server to proxy all requests for MB's that are not local to the 2010 box rather than redirecting (as the 2010 box is not accessible from the internet).

Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to do something special in for the URL's in the Exch config?

Any suggestions?!

Thanks - Steve

Exchange 2010 Security Certificate issues with HTTP over RPC

$

Hi,

I have a customer who is receiving an error when he opens Outlook 2010 when away from the office. It's the 'There is a problem with the proxy server's security certificate. The name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name on the target site ....'

This is only a problem if the 'Only connect to the proxy servers that have this principle name in their certificate:' is checked.

One thing I thought could be the issue is that there are 2 certificates in Exchange, one for some Shoretel phone services. Anyway, here's some more info:

If anyone can see why I'd be getting this error, please let me know.

Public folder content replication issues

$

Hi,

I have recently added a replica to the public folders using the Exchange 2010 Powershell scriptAddReplicaToPFRecursive.ps1. This completed successfully, and I checked through the public folders to ensure that the new Exchange 2010 server had been added as a replica and confirmed it had.  I also added the new server to the system public folders.

However, the problem I am having is that none of the content is replicating to the new server, the database is mounted.  Using Get-PublicFolderStatistics I can see however that some folders have items in them whereas the majority do not and have a value of 0.  The replication interval set on the public folders is configured to "Always Run".

I have increased the logging level on the public folders and can see incoming and outgoing replication messages, but most of these appear to be for the FREE/BUSY information rather than the actual public folders. I can also see the following error repeated;

Error -2147221233 reading property 0x67010003 on object type tbtReplication from database "UK-PFDB4".

The total size of the public folder is only around 10Gb, and this replica is a local replica so it does not need to go across any WAN links.  I would expect it to have fully replicated within 24 hours?  Looking at the physical file and log directory for the new PF database they total up about 2.8Gb so certainly some data is being replicated?

Can anyone offer any assistance as to things I may be able to check or look out for? I cant seem to figure out why the content isnt replicating
