Hi,

I've just installed 1 x Exchange 2010 SP2 server (EXC01) into a test domain (test.local). The only requirement for OWA is for Internal access, no external access. The default internal URL for OWA is https://exc01.test.local/owa but I don't want to expose this URL to users. Instead I would like users to access OWA through a URL such as https://mail.test.local/owa. I would also like to follow this thread with ECP so the URL will be https://mail.test.local/ecp.

How can I achieve this?

I set up two Server 2008 R2 x64 servers for an AD and Exchange 2010 install, created the AD environment and then went to install exchange 2010 on the other server. When doing the prerequisite check, I get the following message I pasted below.

when i am trying to install exchange 2010 on 2008 r2 member server, readiness check is failing at organisation prerequisites asking to modify AD with setup /prepareAD. when i ran prepareAD i get the following error.

Exchange organization name cannot be specified. There already exists an Exchange organization with name 'XXXX'.

i think this is because of my earlier unsuccessful attempts of installing exchange. can someone help me to get pass this. thanks

can i give the other name? or can i delete the organisation from ADSIedit?? what ever it takes, i need to get exchange up n running by this Sunday. cheers

iPad cannot connect to 1 outlook mailbox but can connect to others

Hallo,

I need some suggestions to resolve an issue with the administrators mailbox. I have an iPad/iPhone and added the administrators mailbox (exchange 2010) to the mail configuration. This is the only account that doesn't work on the iPad.

error: Cannot Get Mail, The connection to the server failed.

I have 4 other exchange mail accounts that DO work using the same iPad and same Exchange 2010 server. The server is patched to the latest SP's (beiing 2) and has rollup package 4 on it. However I do not believe this to be a rollup package issue. I think that this has to do with the mailbox beiing the administrators mailbox.

A second clue might be that I cannot send e-mails on behave of this account using outlook 2013. I did give my user account full access permissions and send as permissions but still get this error.

Any suggestions?

Hi I have an Exchange Mailbox, its database are located in another drive which is hosted by a SAN.

If I expand the volume to a larger size, will my databases get corrupted in the process?

I accidently deleted my public folders. (must have been too much work and not enough sleep --gotta blame something). I have tried the following to get them back;

1. used outlook 2013 recover delted items (this worked for some of the folders)

2. Used Exfolders (version 14.17.*.*) and I get recovery partially suceeded and it doesn't work.

3. tried digiscope and it didn't show the deleted folders. I don't want to spend money to use it unless I can get the folders back.

4. I have upgraded ex 2010 to sp2-5-2 rollup. and reran exfolders. no joy.

everything I have found says the exfolders 14.2.*.* will work, but my searching has not found that. I only see the 14.17.266.0.

Does anyone have a link for the latest version of Exfolders?

Does anyone have any other ideas?

Not sure if anyone else has seen this, but ever since we updated our Exchange 2010 to SP2 RU1 we are getting loads of errors in the Event logs.

The users all seem to be able to connect fine, but it logs this error every time someone connects to their mailbox in our second (non-internet-facing) AD site. No errors are logged if the user has a mailbox in our internet facing AD site. These seem to be a little misleading, since the sign-in does not actually fail, it just gets proxied.

The sign-in to Outlook Web App failed. User ExchangeDN has a mailbox on 14.2.247.0 server version. However, no Client Access server or front-end server with a matching version was found to handle the request.

For users on Exchange 2007 and above, you can configure the Outlook Web Access URL for redirection using the externalURL parameter on the Exchange /owa virtual directory.

I am trying to figure out if there is a way to add OU admin accounts to several computers at one time using active directory or powershell or... anything?

I have two seperate ou admin accounts (that I belong to) that I need to add to 100 or so computers in the quickest time possible.

Hello all

One of our mailbox DB is experiencing an Event ID 629 just like the link below:

The event ID appears once or twice a day within the last 5 days. We have no CRM server, exchange maintenance window is between 1am to 5am, backup ends at 11:30pm. The Event occurs at different times. A couple of them between 8pm to 10pm. The exchange logs and database seems normal-meaning no abnormal growth. Will somebody please point me to the right direction on how to handle this warning? Thank you.

HI I'm new here. I'm setting up 4 exchange 2010 servers in a CAS array. I had one server configured with all the directory settings in IIS/OWA/activesync and working with my microsoft TMG firewall. I've added the other 3 exchange servers today. As I'm looking at the configurations on the new exchange servers none of the IIS, OWA, or active sync is setup at all like the first exchange server.

So simple question does every CAS server added to an array have to be setup all from scratch? I was starting/continuing testing of OWA/activesync/TMG but now thinking going to have to forgo testing until I can duplicate all the setting on all 4 machines. Plus any changes made during the testing phase will have to be duplicated on all 4 server, which involves 4 times the possibility of errors. I assumed setting up an exchange server in an array would take care of the other/additional server. Big mistake?

I've read most of the ms technet articles, got 30 some bookmark articles from web I thought where pertinent and not a single one mentions each exchange server has to be configured separately for OWA/active sync, etc.

Hi folks,

I have a server an Exchange server named vmINFRA-EXCH1. It acts as all roles (MB/CA/HT etc). I have internal DNS entry pointing mail.domain.com to the internal IP address of vmINFRA-EXCH1. I also have external DNS entry pointing mail.domain.com to the external IP address of vmINFRA-EXCH1.

I've purchased a certificate from Thawte, for mail.domain.com, domain.com, and autodiscover.domain.com. https://mail.domain.com/owa and /ecp are working fine, and I've left autodiscover disabled for now (I'll enable this later in the year).

The problem I now have is that Outlook users, connected to the internal network and joined to the domain.com AD domain, experience a certificate error when they configure their Outlook and start it up each day. It's because their Outlook always configures itself to vminfra-EXCH1.domain.com, which isn't included in the certificate. I've tried manually reconfiguring the Outlook profiles to point to mail.domain.com, but it always reverts back to vminfra-EXCH1.

Is there a way to change this behaviour, or am I going to have to send back the certificate and get an additional SAN on for vminfra-EXCH1.domain.com? Also, is there any danger of breaking the Exchange IIS virtual directories by forcing all access to mail.domain.com only?

Hello,everyone!

I am using Exchange 2010 with Outlook/OWA at workplace. However, I discovered some weird thing. It's that my personal calendar's work status (e.g. Busy/Free/Meeting) will be shown to all other people in my organization even I "ticked" the private checkbox from the calendar appointment.

Can I hide even my "work status" like they can't even see my work status in the global address list?

We were running Exchange 2003 in co-existence with Exchange 2010. In the process of removing the 2k3 server we seem to have lost all the Exhange server security groups that end in administrators. We can there not access the console or the powershell.

Tried running adprep and running a restore of AD but so far no luck.

Have created a new Receive connector to allow a specific server (HR system that sends Notification via email) to relay email through Exchange 2010 HT server as stated in the linkhttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232021.aspx . still cannot send through it . is there something that I am missing?

Note that I have the original receive connectors 1.the default connector & 2.the client connector.

Hello!

We would like to convert all incoming mails to a specific user in our organization from HTML to plain text. Is that possible?

Scenario:

A message is sent in HTML internally from user 1 to user 2. The message should arrive in plain text in user 2´s inbox and then be forwarded to user 3 in this format.

Is this possible with a transport rule? Or maybe can I configure the mailbox to force all incoming mails to be in plain text?

I am currently running MS Exchange 2010 SP1 with Mailbox, Edge, and Client Hub servers. For some reason on 1/8/13 MessageTracking stopped creating logs on my servers.

The location is the default path: C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\TransportRoles\Logs\MessageTracking

Network Service account has Full-Permissions on the folder.

Confirmed in the properties of the Transport Server>Log Settings, Enable message tracking log is checked.

No updates were installed on the day it failed to write to the directory.

I even disabled and re-enabled via powershell.

Anyone have some suggestions on what I might be missing?

Force a crawling database copy to activate

Is there anyway to force a database copy to activate when it's content index state is 'crawling', the "number of mailboxes left to crawl" perfmon counter is going down but at the current rate it will take days.

I have already rebuilt the index (hence the crawling state) so I'm not that bothered about loosing it.

I would like to get the databases active on their 'home' server to redistribute the load as they are currently active on a server that already has active copies of its own databases

We recently migrated from Exchange 2007 to 2010. I would like to move the default mailboxes and remove the default database. However, when I try to move the mailboxes by issuing the following command I get an error:

Error: Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\Mailbox\Mailbox Database 1712221758'. Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\Mailbox\Mailbox Database 1712221758'.

And indeed there doesn't appear to be a mailbox database at that location or anywhere. How can I move the default mailboxes if the default mailbox database won't mount? I know the mailboxes were created because I can see them when I issue the command Get-Mailbox -Arbitration
