The GoDaddy certificate for a client's Exchange 2010 server expired and rather than buy a new certificate it was decided to substitute a wildcard certificate in its place since it has a couple of years left on it. What a hassle this has been!
Outlook and OWA are working for the users but they are getting a security alert popup saying that the name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site. This would seem to go along with the errors in the Exchange BPA that say the "SAN of SSL certificate for https://email.comain.com/OAB (as well as OWA and several others) does not appear to match the host address. Host address: email.domain.com. Current SAN: DNS Name=*.domain.com, DNS Name=domain.com."
I and a coworker tried for several hours yesterday to fix this without success. I don't care so much about the BPA errors, but we really do need to get rid of the security popups for the users.
What do we need to do to correct this?
