SSL Trouble with .local

I am in the process of moving a customer from 2007 to 2010 single server

1: They are a .local domain

2: I am aware that  I can't get a pubic SSL for .local any more

3: In the SSL I added ECP.customer.com so the ECP/CAS would work fine.

4: Outlook is the one issue I can stop from prompting as it picks up the server.customer.local

5: What I tried was creating a CAS array and I used ECP.customer.com since it was already in the cert. I figured if this worked I would redo the cert with client.customer.com as the array.

6: The Profile on outlook now says ecp.customer.com but I still get the SSL flag. I assume this is because of public folders still goes to the host and does not use the CAS Array.

7: What can I do? Right now only a hand full of people are there and I really don't think changing the .local to a .com is an option for the customer.

Thanks, Grady Vogt
