Hi All,
I would greatly appreciate any help with this one. We currently have two exchange 2003 mailbox servers behind the DMZ which has one webmail front-end server in the DMZ. My question is I would like to upgrade to Exchange 2010 here's what I think I need and could you confirm.
The one webmail front-end server provide OWA to both exchange 2003 internal servers which each hold mailboxes on each. I want ot install two new servers only. 1) as a CAS (Client Access Server) and one to be the Mailbox server. I want ot migrate over slowly each of the databases from the two older 2003 servers to this one mailbox server.
In the mean time is it sufficent for me to install exchange 2010 to the new CAS server then install the new 2010 Mailbox server. then create the new database and migrate all the mailboxes from the two old 2003 servers to the new 2010 mailbox server as needed?
My real question is will the 2010 CAS know which 2003 mailbox server to pull a users 2003 mail from being I have two 2003 mailbox servers.
Keep in mind these two are on the same domain, AD, and network, just running tandem.
Jim
