I'm currently migrating from Exchange 2007 to 2010. I've setup 1 mailbox server at my primary site, and one mailbox server at my DR site. 100% of users are at my primary site. I've setup the DAG, created new mailbox databases so the copy status is healthy. I then tried to move mailboxes into that database and everything appears fine, however, the copy across the WAN is extremely slow. My WAN connection is 50mbps with a latency of about 15ms. The copy queue length is only doing down by about 1000 messages every day. The whole database I started with is only 35GB and the WAN connection is only about 2% utilized overall. This copy has been running for about 3 days now.
I realize my setup would be better with more servers, but i am limited by licenses and hardware. Any ideas on what i can to do speed up the replication? I have about 700GB of additional mailboxes to move and I can't really wait several months to get the databases synced up. I also have read of the method of taking the databases offline and manually copying them. Unfortunately, i do not have a large enough window to have the databases offline long enough to copy the data across the 50mbps link.
