Hi
We are running Windows server 2003 with exchange 2007 on with an edge transport server.
We have installed 2008 R2 boxes ( 4 in total ) with EX 2010 .. We have moved 90 % of the mailboxes already . All Mail is working but mobile devices are not . The 10 % of mailboxes that have not been moved are the users that rely on their mobile connectivity which is working for them still
My question is.. I know we need to change the PAT to point to the new exchange boxes , I know we need to move the remaining 10 % of mailboxes. We already have the new certs installed on the new boxes.
Do we point the PAT to one of the new Exchange Servers or to the new edge and do we have to decommission the exchange 2007 boxes first before we do that or can we just take them off line and remove them manually from the Schema
What is the best way to make it a seamless and quick transition
I also want to know if we do point PAT to the non edge transport server what is the actual point of having an edge as users are bypassing that connecting directly to the internal network.
Also there are 2 sites joined with fiber each with 2 EX boxes , If we do point the PAT to to one box and its down how will that effect OWA and mobile devices
Lots of questions your advise will be greatly appreciated
