Exchange Server 2010 install failure

We installed a Exchange 2010 server into our Organization on a Server 2012 server.  We currently are running a exchange 2003 server and planned to migrate to 2010.  There were several things with the install that were not working.  We tried to remove the 2010 server but were unable to complete all of the steps.  We ended up removing the server from the domain and creating install of the server.  Then we tried to install exchange server 2010 and the install fails on the Hub Transport role, and all other roles with the following error.

Hub Transport Role

Failed

Error:

The following error was generated when "$error.Clear(); if ( ($server -eq $null) -and ($RoleIsDatacenter -ne $true) ) { Update-RmsSharedIdentity -ServerName $RoleNetBIOSName }" was run: "Database is mandatory on UserMailbox. Property Name: Database".

Database is mandatory on UserMailbox. Property Name: Database

Next we try to recover the install and this tells us the server is not found in Active Directory.  We created the server with the same name and joined the domain.  It is available in the domain. So at this point we are unable to install any exchange 2010 servers to the organization.
