Accepting relay from an SMTP server which is on different subnet

Dear Pros,

I have in house a Standard Exchange 2010 server on the main network. I also have a SMTP server which I would like to sent the e-mails to the Exchange Server which will send them out.

Any steps and suggestions setting up both servers would be helpful.
