Has anyone sucessfully enabled Smart Card authentication using Outlook 2010 and Exchange 2010 SP1 via Outlook Anywhere? I tried different options, but can't make it work. What I did:
1. steps noted here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh227263.aspx (Configure Smart Card Authentication for Outlook Anywhere)
2. enabled clientCertificateMappingAuthentication for both OWA and ECP, set their SSL setting to accept client certificate, authentication options are cleared (none are selected).
OWA smart card authentication works great with these settings (via browser), but Outlook 2010 clients with Outlook Anywhere enabled still use /Rpc endpoint and not /RpcWithCert as was noted in the technet article. Therefore smart card authentication does not work in Outlook 2010 clients.
What else should I change to enable smart card authentication for this scenario?
(Clients use Windows 7 SP1 with updates, server is Windows Server Standard 2008 R2 SP1 with updates, smart card is eToken with 5.1 SP1 drivers installed both on client and server)
