I decided to run the troubleshooting wizard as our Exchange 2010 server has been acting a little weird lately with Outlook credential popups appearing on only select user machines.
One severity Warning said "The top 6 users account for 42% of the MAPI CPU usage on the server".
So I looked a little further, and on the General Information tab, it shows a Detailed User Activity Analysis section and some users.
It shows 9 of the company employees, but two are a little odd.
One says:
Active User: jarod.<hislastname>
MAPI client versions: 3584.38885.5001
The user jarod.<hislastname> had a MAPI operation that took 0.36 seconds
The user jarod.<hislastname> is issuing 1.38 MAPI operations per second.
The odd thing is, his account name in Exchange and Active Directory is: jared.
not jarod. Where is this username coming from? Is it a mobile device trying to connect as jarod.<hislastname>?
I'm trying to think back when he first started working here. Perhaps his active directory username was created as jarod on accident, but if that was the case, it was shortly deleted and his correct spelled user was created.
So, what are these Active Users? We have one other that is a little different as well.
