I have an Exchange 2010 environment spanning two AD sites. Each AD site has its own Internet connection. Each AD site hosts a single MB/HUB/CAS server and an Edge server.
Based on my reading, I had thought this topology would present two routes for outbound external mail and if a hub in one site saw that the edge in that site wasn't sending the mail, it would redirect the mail to the secondary path which would be out the edge at the secondary site. This does not appear to be happening.
There are times when our Internet connection goes down at the primary site and is still up at the secondary site. I want the mail to redirect out the secondary site edge server if the primary site internet connection is down. Since this does not appear to happen by default, what do I need to configure to make this happen?
Thank you for your help!!
