We were in the process of upgrading Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 last year. However something went wrong during the mailbox migration process and we turned the Exchange 2010 server off and migrated the mailbox back to the oringial Exchange 2003. We didn't remove that exchange 2010 server from the domain and now we are planning to build a completely new Exchange 2010 server and try the upgrade again.
I need to know how to remove the old exchange 2010 from the domain completely so it won't affect functionalities of the new exchange 2010 server. The old exchange 2010 server has been turnned off for almost a year, so do I still need to start up that old exchang 2010 and do a manual removal of the exchage? The old exchange 2010 appears under a separate administrative group in the Exchange System Manager and there's a connector configured between exchange 2003 and this echange 2010 server.
Any idea would be appreciated.
