event ID 12014 after adding receive connector for photocopier relays

After following some instructions to create and enable a receive connector to allow our photocopiers to relay mail, i've been receiving 12014 error regarding the certificate for the fqdn i gave in the connector setup. How should i proceed?

Reviewing the settings for the existing default and client receive connectors, the FQDN's these two match, but the new relay connector FQDN is different. Should i change it to match the other two?

Exchange 2010 OWA & Outlook Search Email Search

It's been discovered recently when some users search email in their Inbox, only emails beyond two weeks are found - all email between the time the search is executed to two weeks back isn't available.  At times no results are found.  This behavior occurs in Outlook and in OWA.  What I find bizarre is the Content Index State shows healthy on all database copies.  It seems the basic consensus, when researching the problem on the net, is to update the catalog on each database copy - which I intend to do this week.  However, in the interim, can anyone offer any troubleshooting steps bearing in mind the information provided above?

Also, I'm seeing MSExchange Search Indexer events with ID 118.  The trouble here is this - the referenced database copies in these events aren't correlated with the users reporting the problem.

Please help.

Exchange Server 2010 - MSExchange Common Logging Problems

Hi All,

Hoping that someone might be able to help me correct a few Event IDs that are showing up in my application logs.

MSExchange Common Event IDs 4999 and 6004 about every 15-20 mins in my application event logs. This problem has just started recently.

Its indicating that it cant write to the device. I have ran a chkdsk and manually verified I can create files in this location.

General details: RCAProtocolLogs: Failed to write logs because of the error: The device is not ready.

General details: AddressBookProtocolLogs: Failed to write logs because of the error: The device is not ready.

Running Exchange 14.2 Build 247.5

Everything in the environment appears to be functioning normally, I just cant find a lot of information to resolve the following event ID's. I did check the following locations where the indicated log files should be written to Exchange Server\v14\Logging\RPC Client Access and Exchange Server\v14\Logging\AddressBook Service, I double checked that amdministrators, system, and network services all have full access to this location.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Access "Phone" Option in ECP for All Users

I'm trying to setup our help desk so that they have the ability to wipe users phones through the ECP.  I've followed the steps in this blog post to create the necessary roles and groups but I'm at a bit of a loss as to how our help desk would actually accomplish this.  If I log in to the ECP with an account that has the same rights as the help desk in the cookie crumb menu I only have the options to manage "myself" or "my organization".  If I log in to the ECP with an Organization Management account I have another option in that menu that says "Another user", which I can click, select a user and have an new ECP window open for their options.

So my question is really how do I get our help desk to be able to wipe phones for other users when they don't have that extra option?

Thanks for any and all help.

Need a PS Command to List all Disconnected Mailboxes

I'm looking for a command that will list all the disconnected mailboxes in our Exchange organization.

I found one that seems to do this:
Get-MailboxDatabase | Get-MailboxStatistics -Filter 'DisconnectDate -ne $null'

This command is Example 5 from the Get-MailboxStatistics page (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124612(v=exchg.150).aspx). However this page is for Exchange 2013.

Does anyone know if this command is compatible with Exchange 2010?

Anti-Spam on Exchange 2010 Sp3

We are in the process of migrating from Ex2007 sp3 to Ex2010 sp3 so far so good.

Currently, I've moved over 6 of the 450 mailboxes to start with and found out that those users getting a bunch of spam in their inbox's since the move.  I need to address this issue before I move anymore.

On the Ex2007 sp3 server we use 3rd party software (Vipre's Email Security) to handle all junk email.  I would install it on the new server but it's not ready for Win2012.  How can I handle the spam issue on the 2010 server?

FYI: I called MS to assist with the 2010 setup on the new server which went good.  However, I asked them if I needed to run a script to handle the spam on the new server and they said no.

What are my options?  Is there a 3rd party software that is Ex2010 sp3/Win2012 compatible?

We have Exchange 2010 sp2.  CAS and DB roles are on seperate boxes.  We have enabled some new users to require change password on first login, but OWA does not prompt.  It only gives the message that username or password is incorrect.  I have tried this already http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb684904.aspx and read many articles about it, but still not working.

Thanks,

David

Office for Mac 2011 + TMG: testexchangeconnectivity 403 forbidden error

I am trying to connect a MacBook Air through TMG 2010 to my 2010 Exchange Server.  When I test utilizing the testexchangeconnectivity.com website, I get the below.  The interesting thing is if I go directly to the Exchange.asmx page, I am presented the Forefront login window and have no issues logging in and getting the WSDL page. The Office for Mac Outlook client simply says it cannot connect to the Exchange Server.  I am making the assumption that since I can log into the Exchange.asmx page that I have everything necessary to access the Exchange Server from the Internet via EWS but obviously that is an incorrect assumption.  Any help would be appreciated.

RWW stops working in SBS 2011 after configuring Outlook Anywhere

$

Hi! I have a SBS 2011 Standard Server that was migrated from SBS 2003. Remote Web Workplace was working great until I had to enable Outlook Anywhere (for a remote user needing HTTP over RPC). Outlook Anywhere works great and OWA still works fine but am unable to access any desktops using any account. The "Enter your credentials" screen keeps coming up no matter which machine I try to connect to or which valid account I try.

I setup Outlook Anywhere to use Basic authentication under Client authentication method and am using the same external host name as OWA uses. It is using a digitally signed certificate, not self signed.

I appreciate any help as I am officially stumped!

New 2010 Exchange Cert Generation with Ex 2007 Present

Hello, I'm moving the business from EX2007 to EX2010 with both Exchange servers up and running.  EX2010 requires an Exchange cert and I request assistance with the syntax to generate the 2010 cert without messing with the 2007 server.  We are employing Androids for mail access.  I do not want to get into the CA submission scenario as it was not used to set up the cert and Androids on the  EX2007 server.  If I use the cmdlt New-ExchangeCertificate will it generate the cert and a key?  Are there parameters which are required because it looks too simple in many blogs. Likewise the 'submit to CA' path looks way complex.  If it generates the cert where will it be so that I can import it? Thanks everyone for any assistance.  RHH Jr.

Secure Outlook Anywhere access to only domain-joined workstations

$

Hi all,

my company wishes to secure Outlook Anywhere so that only company supplied laptops that are domain-joined can access Outlook Anywhere externally - I have found this article

http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2010/12/06/more-whitepapers-to-help-you-securely-publish-exchange.aspx

which links to http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=23708

This uses IPSec to secure access to Exchange, which will work but before I start going down that path I was wondering if there were any other ways of doing the same thing? We are running Exchange 2010 and Forefront TMG

Thanks!

Dylan

Hi,

After decommissioning  test AD RMS server which was working properly with Exchange 2010, the new AD RMS server was installed.  All AD RMS prerequisites are completed, but testing IRM Configuration on Exchange fails with the following error:

Acquiring Rights Account Certificate (RAC) and Client Licensor Certificate (CLC) ...

This failure may cause features such as Transport Decryption, Transport Protection Rules, Journal Report Decryption, IRM in Outlook Web App, IRM in Exchange ActiveSync, and IRM Search to not work. Make sure that the Exchange Servers Group is granted "Read" and "Read & Execute" rights on the ServerCertification.asmx and Publish.asmx pipelines on your AD RMS server. Hi,

I have some questions about edge transport role:

I have two edge transport servers and two hub transports servers.

  1. What do I need to configure except the edge sync to have the external mail flow?
  2. For outbound mail flow , how does the hub transport servers load balance the messages?
  3. For inbound mail flow , how does the edge transport servers load balance the messages?
  4. What happens if a hub transport server fail?!
  5. What happens if an edge transport server fail?!

When syncronized OST file by default

Hi,

I saw the below MS article regarding .OST syncronization.

http://office.microsoft.com/en-in/outlook-help/introduction-to-outlook-data-files-pst-and-ost-HA010354876.aspx

They mentioned that You’ll not be aware of these changes on the server until you synchronize.

But I did not see when .ost syncronized and method (diffarencial or incrimental update)

My enviroment is below:

We have network connection.

Run Outlook as cahced mode.

In this case, I would like to know the syncronization process for .OST

For example .OAB file syncronized every 24 horus, but how about .OST?

Could someone any idea?

Hi all,

I wish you an Happy New Year 2012 !

I'm trying to install SP2 for Exchange 2010, and during the step about the mailbox role, this error occurs :

Mailbox Server role
Failure

Error :
Following error occured during execution of "$error.Clear();
if ($RoleCreatePublicFolderDatabase)
{
$publicDB = get-PublicFolderDatabase -Server:$RoleFqdnOrName -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue;
$DB = get-MailboxDatabase -Server:$RoleFqdnOrName -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue;
if ($publicDB -and $DB)
{
set-mailboxdatabase `
-Identity:$DB.Identity `
-publicFolderDatabase:$publicDB.Identity `
-DomainController $RoleDomainController
}
}
" : "Can't bind argument to parameter « Identity », because its value is Null.".

Can't bind argument to parameter « Identity », because its value is Null.

Time elapsed : 00:05:35

End of installation.

Canceled

I can't find anything about this error. But it's surprising, the Exchange server seems running perfectly, and 2 new mailbox databases were created automatically, and they are unmounted.... Je ne trouve rien concernant cette erreur.

Thank you. have a good day.
