Cannot recreate EWS Virtual Directory in IIS
I've been working through the seemingly very common issue of not being able to access the Out Of Office feature in Exchange 2010 using Outlook 2010 from external locations, or from OWA.
Used Fazal's response in this thread http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchange2010/thread/b5026be0-c7ef-4fc2-878c-cd80f2ee26c8 to delete and recreate the EWS directory.
Now, after completing the procedure as described by Fazal:
I have no EWS virtual directory showing in IIS, EMC command Get-WebServiceVirutalDirectory | Format-List returns nothing, and re-running New-WebservicesVirtualDirectory returns:
"An error occurred while creating the IIS virtual directory 'IIS://SVR2.terotek.co.nz/W3SVC/1/ROOT/EWS' on 'SVR2'.

Event ID 1114: Table was marked as in use while releasing a database session...
I'm running Exchange 2010 SP2 RU1 in a two node DAG.
All the databases are mounted and healthy. Running ESEUTIL /G returned no errors (just some warnings about "orphaned scrubbed LV(401) detected" and said an offline defrag would fix it). Running ESEUTIL /K on the databases comes back clean as well.
For about two weeks now I've been getting clusters of 1114 warnings in the Application log of the server which has the active database. Unfortunately, I've been almost completely unable to find any information on this warning; the one thing I was able to find pointed to a harmless issue with Advanced Search in Outlook 2007/2010, but that was fixed in SP1 RU4.
Any ideas? At this point I think I'm ready to just create a new database and move my mailboxes over.

Errors and Poison messages after Rollup 1 on Exchange 2010 SP3
Hello!
I have installed Rollup 1 Update on my MS Exchange 2010 SP2 server: now I have several error messages in Event Log and all the sent mails in "Poison Queue".
No problem with received mails: OWA works perfectly.
Several errors:

Microsoft Exchange Advanced Activsync?
We have hired a contractor to assist us with a self-audit of our Microsoft licenses. We received a question asking if Advanced Activesyn was enabled. I am not familiar with "advanced activesync". Can anyone explain what this may be?

Delivery Delay can't be cleared or changed. Email stuck in Outbox of Outlook 2010
Hi
we have a Exchange 2010 Server and client use Outlook 2010.One user report that there is message stuck in Outbox. It is message with Delay Delivery setting.
Tried several times to clear the check box beofer the Delay delivery setting and close the window. The email still there. The setting was not cleaned.
Tried create new messge and send, no proble,
Tried create new messge and then click Option - > Delay delivery. Then the new mail shows a delayed
delivery with the date from today and time 5 PM and can't be cleaned. Also, this message can't be delivered.
I tried the following method but haven't fix the problem.
1. Reset Send/Receive settings.
2. Remove current Outlook profile and deleted all files in app/localapp folder. Build new profile.
3. Tried cache mode and online mode. Have same issue.
So why the Delay delivery settings stuck there?!
Not every user have this issue. Only one user so far as I am aware.

auto mapping shared mailbox?
hi,
i was reading http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2010/08/25/455861.aspx recently. There is a very interesting part saying the following:
"On the client side features like auto mapping of shared mailboxes to user’s Outlook 2010 profiles will remove a support headache."
does anyone know anything about this feature? will we see this in SP1 for Office or is it actually an exchange 2010 sp1 feature?

Exchange 2010 - Andriod phone 'Remote Security Administration'
Hi,
I have an Exchange 2010 mail server and we have mostly iphones but on the andriod it asks the following when setting up an email account
'remote security administration. server server1.domain.local must be able to remotely control somesecurity feature son your device. Continue?'
How can I get rid of the message so it doesn't come up when setting up an email account on the andriod? Can I disable the exchange activesync policy? I looked around but I didn't see anything.

Exchange 2010 Initialization failed: The WinRM client received an HTTP server error status 500
Good morning,
I have major problems with exchange 2010 this morning.
First off, exchange stopped sending and receiving any emails- whether internal or external. We are running a server 2008 R2 domain and exchange 2010 is installed on a Server 2008 virtual machine.
I tried simply rebooting the server and then tried logging on and getting into the Exchange Management Console. I receive the following error in the exchange management console:
Initialization failed
The following error occurred while attempting to connect to the specified Exchange server 'exchangesvr.chs.internal';
The attempt to connect to http://exchangesvr.chs.internal/Powershell using "Kerberos" authentication failed: Connecting to remote server failed with the following error message: The WinRM client received an HTTP server error status (500), but the remote service did not include any other information about the cause of the failure. For more information, see the about_Remote_Troubleshooting Help topic.
I followed the steps listed here:

but everything appeared to be correct. I did not have to make any changes because everything was set as it should be according to that information.

Update Exchange 2010 to SP3
Hi! I'm really newbie to Exchange. I've a Exchange 2010 server (all in one server, WS2008R2 SP1) into a domain with two domain controllers, the main is a WS2003R2 SP2 (AD, DNS and DHCP) is a and the other is a WS2008R2 SP1 (same AD, DNS).
If I create a user into WS2003 AD the user is created in both AD's. If I create a user into WS2008 AD the user is created in both AD's. It's the same domain.
My main concern is about AD scheme update.
- Can I update from Exchange 2010 witout any service pack to Exchange 2010 SP3 directly?
- Will the SP3 installer do all the AD schema update automatically or I need to do some manually (Setup.exe /prepareAD...)?
Of course, I will backup Exchange and Domain controllers before (they are Hyper-V virtual machines, so it's easy)

Exchange 2010 archive behaving strange..
Hello.
Over the last days i realised a strange thing for people who have "Full Access Permissions" to another users Mailbox.
All mailboxes are on Exchange 2010 Sp3 fully up to date and Outlook 2010 (32Bit)
In Outlook the name of the persons Archive who gave Full Access Permissions shows now up with the same name as the other persons archive, so they booth have the samme name, really strange and i haven't seen that before.
Anyone else experienced such behaviour before or has some tips or suggestions to point me in the right direction?
Any help is really appreciated.

IE10 on Win7 and OWA 2010 can't drag and drop
I've upgraded to IE10 for win7. When I login to OWA for exchange 2010, I notice I can't drag and drop emails into any folders. Compatibility mode doesn't work either. The only way for it to work is to go into developer mode and force "Document Mode" to "IE 9 standards".
How do we post bugs for the exchange team to fix? I'm sure they have to update the OWA code to fix this.

Legacy Exchange DN Displaying Old Username in Outlook Automatic Name Checking
We have a couple of old user accounts which were created under Windows Server 2K and Outlook 2003. The accounts were renamed at some point prior to upgrade to Server 2008 and Exchange 2010. The original (old) usernames on the accounts appear in Outlook 2010 when using automatic name checking.
It appears as though Outlook is obtaining this old information from the LegacyExchangeDN field, which contains the original users name. Is it possible to rename the LegacyExchangeDN field under the users AD object to match the correct display name? If not, how would I go about correcting the issue.

Exchange 2010 Cert Renewal - Can I use the "Renewal" option if I'm going to a different Cert Provider from the last time?
Hi All,
I need to renew our Exchange Certificate as it expires next month.
I reviewed the steps in using the "Renew" option and it looks like your "Issuer" is noted during your *.req export.
Does that affect the *.req in any way? I'd like to use a new "Issuer," not the old one.
If not, great! If so, I take it that I'll just need to generate a "New Exchange Certificate" CSR request.

Public Folder Migration Exchange 2010 site to different Ex2010 site
I have recently moved our Exchange 2010 sp3 environment from Site A to be Primary at Site B. Everything is working great except for Public Folders. I would like to decom Site A soon. However, when I shut down down Site A all of the Outlook 2003 clients take forever to access the public folders and the vacation request function doesn't work. I've set the replication between Site A and Site B and that seems to be working fine. I cannot for the life of me decom the public folders connection from Site A to point exclusively to Site B.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Nothing on the forums seems to work.

OWA: All attachmnents present message "The file contained a virus and was deleted"
I have a remote client that encounters the following message using OWA-"The file contained a virus and has been deleted". The range of impact includes all files. Note, the end user has no issue when using an alternate mail systems and browser based client with the same attachment(s).
The device in question is Windows 8 with the IE 8 browser.

Upgrading to Exchange 2010 SP3 has error on Orgnization Preparation
I have Exchange Server 2010 SP1 installed (Hub server and MailDB server) on Windows Server 2008 R2 with SP2.
When upgrading to Exchange 2010 SP3 on Hub Server there is an error:

I am loging in with Administrator account.

iPhone says "Cannot Get Mail, The connection to the server failed."
The odd thing is that on the same device I can connect to one Exchange mailbox but not to another.
Obviously there is something with that one account. I checked its AD properties and the security setting has the "Allow inheritable permissions from the parent ..." box checked.
In the past, putting a check in that box when it was not checked fixed the problem. I also unchecked it and checked it again but this time no joy.
So it's not a problem with the device or the Exchange server.
I successfully moved the mailbox to another database and the mailbox had no corrupt messages.
This user was using a iPhone 3 before and had no problems.
His OWA options page shows no connected mobile devices.
Maybe in the process of wiping his iPhone 3 device something happened?
He's on an iPhone 4 but I'm testing it on my iPad so the device itself is not an issue.
So on my iPad I configured my mailbox and then added his but my mailbox works but not his.
I also reset his AD password but it didn't help.

The name of the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site error?
I am looking for some help folks. We are in a Outlook 2007/Exchange2010/Windows2008R2 environment.
When users open Outlook off the network, and occasionally on the network, they get the error
The name of the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site error
The CAS hostname is HRECAS.XXX.ORG. The URL that is listed on the SSL certificate (issued by VeriSign) is WEB.XXX.ORG. WEB.XXX.ORG is what users use to get to OWA and such.
When I use testexchangeconnectivity.com, under certificate name validation I see an error that reads:
Host name autodiscover.xxx.org doesn't match any name found on the server certificate CN=web.xxx.org.
Does this mean somehow we have to add autodiscover.xxx.org on the certificate?
I tried to add AutoDiscoverExternalUri using http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=940726 & http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchange2010/thread/2d0c0f5f-e4ec-4f33-a37d-b94fd7a2319f on the CAS server.
Set-ClientAccessServer -identity HRECAS -AutodiscoverServiceExternalUri

I get an error that says"a positional parameter cannot be found that accepts argument '-AutoDiscoverExternalUri'.
Can someone point to me what I am doing wrong with the command and whether I should be concerning myself with adding that line? By the way the InternalUrl information is already configured on the system. Also should I edit the certificate to add autodiscover.xxx.org?
