As I click through the list of servers in the root of the “Server Configuration” node I get the below error on all servers except the one I am connected to. Is this to be expected?

We are deploying MAC OSX with outlook 2011 connecting to Exchangee 2010. One of the issues we are running in to is, when the offline address book gets updates windows machine see the changes to the OAB but not the MAC. I don't know if i am using the correct terminalogy, but MAC's get the GAL info via LDAP and caches it locally somewhere and it does not seem to update it. Is there a way to update the Cached GAL? or in windows term Offline address book?

Hopefully one of the last scenarios in my lab testing HA setups and failovers! I can't seem to figure this part out, however. The following is just a simple overview:
If the FSW server and one of the MBX servers is turned off, the DAG goes offline as expected due to no quorum. All the documentation online that I can find refers to how to fail over between AD sites, but this is one single site. If it would be a long time before the broken servers come online again and you have one MBX server and one Hub left, can you do the following?

I cannot see a way to do this - is it even possible before I waste any more time? Maybe there is no need to run the stop command first? All I want to do is get the DAG online without having to turn on the old FSW or other MBX server. Glad I'm learning all this in a lab!!

I'm having a small crisis on my hands. Our backup is currently not working properly for the exchange server and the partition for the transaction logs is filling up rapidly. I cannot get the backup to in time since the job takes many hours and I only have a few hours left before the partition is full.
I'd rather avoid enabling circulation since our backup is not working. So i am trying to copy away the logs to another partition and truncate them manually.
However esutil /MH (aswell as /p)returns this:

the management console and from powershell withouth getting any visible errors. Mailflow also still flows through.
How do I force a dismount? and do you have any other notes and recommendations?

I have set up a Resource calendar to be used as a shared calendar for a group of staff members. (If there is a better suggestion than a resource calendar I am happy to look into this also).
However, when i first open outlook, i am able to put meeting requests into the shared resource calendar. The error "Cannot open the free/busy information . You do not have permission to create a subfolder in this folder." appears after submitting each meeting / appointment on the calendar, however it works as intended.
AFter about 15minutes (havent timed it exactly) i am no longer able to even create appointments on the resource calendar untill i restart my outlook client. The message "Cannot open the free/busy information . You do not have permission to create a subfolder in this folder." pops up at the bottom with every attempt.
I am a delegate of the calendar, I have permission in the "Resource In-Policy Requests" and "Resource Out-Of-Policy Requests".
As for system versions Windows 7 Enterprise x64, Exchange 2010 SP1, Outlook 2010 32bit.
Any help would be greatly apprechiated in both solving this issue (as we intend to add resources to Exchange 2010) and a suggestion for hosting a shared calendar that can be accessed by 4-6 users.

For all our mailboxes we're not able (used to work but I don't know when this stopped working) to send a reply when a message arrives. In Outlook 2010 SP1 one can magage rules, Ive created a new rule [when message arrives > server has to reply with message]. Internally the reply message is send but not externally. Does someone know how to fix this? btw, the OOO messages are working fine for internal as external.

Bandwidth 10Mb/s
700 mailbox 100Mo/Mailbox each one with 500 of personal archive for each user.
In the the quest guide they give a formula size/bandwidth : is this reliable?
I want also to verify if the transporter can migrate lotus personal archives to pst?

Looking for some advice on the most appropriate route to take for Exchange co-existence with 2007 and 2010.
We currently have a single office, with Exchange 2007 on a single server, 3 x roles - CAS, HT and MBx
Server is in Office A, the only office at the moment.
Upgrade to Exchange 2010 is planned for this server, but not for a while (months rather then weeks)
Whilst we have enabled OWA and it is accessable from the Internet in Office A, it is not widely used, the vast majority of users VPN into the office to access mail.
We now need to open another officeOffice B, and deploy Exchange. The office when open will have OWA published for users so this will also be an internet facing office.
Office A and B are both in the same AD Forest\Domain and different AD sites
The challenge is:
Looking to deploy Exchange 2010 into Office B as it fits with the bigger upgrade picture, however unsure as to co-existence and therefore deployment aproach:
Looking through the documentation there seems to be two approaches that could/would work:
1 - Deploy a CAS 2010 into Office A, setup the URLredirection with SAN certificate etc, CAS Server will proxy\redirect to Exchange 2007 CAS in local office, and also to Office B Internet connection (Assuming all dependancies are met, ie Legacy URL, SAN certificate multiple IP Addresses externally etc etc etc)
or
2 - Deploy Exchange 2010 into Office B, remove OWA access from Office A (As it is not really used) and publish OWA from office B. As Office A is no longer internet facing, Exchange 2007 can remain as is with no requirement for URL redirection etc and will happily co-exist. If users from office A need to access their mail, they can do with via Office B, as long as they use /exchange not /OwA on the URL (I think)
So finally to the question, which approach would enable deployment of Exchange 2010 with minimal initial re-configuration of 2007. I am pretty certain the second option would work, but clarification would be apreciated.

I have two exchange 2010 sp1 servers running on the same domain. Both the servers hold CAS, HUB and MB roles. The second server Exchange 2 is still under trial and has about 86 days left on trial.
I sort of inherited this environment. Questions:
1. what can I use the second server for ? is it simply going to be waste of money to license it since the first server is working fine and handling the load for 150 mailboxes ?
2. Money is tight and I rather uninstall the second server. I don't think I have use of it. The OS is 2008 R2 standard and thereby I don't think I can use DAG on these servers. what problems I could face when removing the second server from the domain? is there any step by step process ?
Please help me. I want to do a clean uninstall and remove the second exchange server from the domain. Advanced thanks to all
we have strange problem, with few of our exchange servers management.
exchange 2010 - 10 mbx/hts/cas servers.
on five of the servers we can update users property /view message Queue but on other five we get an error saying The error message is: Access is Denied. and when updating a mailbox property I get insufficient access rights.
When i use same AD account on another server (one of the working fives) i can do everyting i want.
its not just for me, it is for all administrators and on all five servers. checked AD Include Inheritable Permsission box is ticked. all admins are full domain and exchange admins.
the error exists even if i use exchange powershell. Access denied.
Any idea/help will be appriciated.

I had a mailbox on gagan_001.edb which was mounted in my exchange environment. I dismounted the database and took its backup.
Later on, I used the backup of the database to create and mount a Recovery databaseRDB_ABC. I tried to execute new-mailboxsearch on the recovery database giving source mailbox asSumit.

Hi,
When trying to mount a database with lots of logs it was stuck at mounting for a long time. While it was doing this I fired a few commands at it to try and stop this. Mainly dismount and mount commands. It then switched to dismounting so it looks like the commands queued and are being played in sequence. How can I stop these commands please as I don't want it mounting and dismounting all day?
