We have Exch2010 and we just finished moving the last mailbox onto office 365 (we are in hybrid mode). Right now, the mailbox store is about 200GB on a 300GB hard disk - so i cannot run eseutil to shrink it.
The server runs the rolls of hub transport, client access, and information store. my understanding is that CAS role is helpful for management. Also, we have a few applications that still route their mail via the exchange server, so i am guessing i still need the hubtransport.
However, i do not think there is any reason to keep the information store role. so, my question is (since it is something i have never done) - how do i properly and safely remove that role and the large database (and all those associated log files). Once i do that, i can radically shrink the VM it is on and give myself more capacity for other things.
