Exchange 2010 and Public Folder Access

Hello,

When outlook clients are connecting from inside (MAPI) they connect to CAS but public folder connection is directly to mailbox server. 

Is this behavior same for outside clients (outlook anywhere) ? or every thing goes thru CAS first
