We have successfully removed Exchange 2003 from our hybrid 2003/2010 organisation and in the process of housekeeping.
As part of this I have noticed that there are several OWAScratchPad folders and StoreEvents folders in the System Public Folders. None of the GUIDs in the names of these folders are relevant to the current Exchange 2010 servers. There are also several folders such as the schema-root folder that I have read are un-necessary.
If it is safe to remove these folders, and I deleted them, are there any ways to retrieve/re-create them if it causes problems? Our change process requires a back out plan so there has to be a method of reversing change if necessary.
