Our environment:
Server OS: Windows 2008 R2 Standard
Exchange 2007: 1 Mail server and 1 OWA server
Exchange 2010: 2 Hub/CAS servers, 2 Mailbox servers, 1 DAG
Our previous Exchange admin began to update our Exchange 2010 servers from Exchange 2010 SP1 to 2010 SP3. He updated both Hub/CAS servers and 1 mailbox server, and then got sidetracked. Unfortunatley, he has since left the company after never having upgraded the last mailbox server. We are also at the beginning of migrating our users from 2007 to 2010, but once I realized the servers were not all on the same version, I figured it would be best to upgrade the version BEFORE proceeding with the migration.
My question is this: Can I just upgrade to SP3 on the final mailbox server or could there have been a reason that he did not complete the upgrade?
I have had a little bit of Exchange training, but it is far from my specialty so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
