2010 SP2 - IPv6 - Do you disable it or leave it enabled?

I normally leave the tick box on the NIC properties with IPv6 ticked and IPv4 has a static IP address set.

A current site I am working at normally unticks the IPv6 option but I had issues with adding DAG members "An error occurred while attempting a cluster operation. Error: Cluster API '"AddClusterNode() (MaxPercentage=12) failed with 0x800706d3" and when the IPv6 tick box was rechecked it worked.

Now, IPv6 wasn't fully disabled via the registry so that most likely caused the problem, but what do people generally do?

  • Leave the IPv6 box ticked and leave it alone
  • Untick IPv6 and disable it fully via the registry

I am not too keen on turning off IPv6 fully as I have seen various articles about IPv6 being required for some Exchange 2010 services, but there doesn't appear to be any up to date Technet articles I can show people that states the above?  What is the process these days?
