I'm trying to access an old user's email account.  I've checked to make sure their account is active in MS Exchange 2010 and Active Directory.  I'm able to log in to their account and set them up with Outlook but the only emails that show up are from a month ago and any new emails.  When I check the account on the Exchange server, it says there are about 1700 items.  When I add up all the items I can find through Outlook and OWA, I only get ~300 items.  I've tried accessing this account from several different computers.  I've tried running in cached and non-cached modes.  I've deleted .pst files and started fresh.  I've created new profiles.  I even tried removing and reconnecting the mailbox to the account.  Any idea on how/if I can get those ~1300 items/emails

Hello. We are in nearing the end of our Exchange 2003 to 2010 transition and we have run into an issue with the Public Folders.

After we attempted to move them to the new server no one can access them.

We all can see them but when anyone tries to access them we get the following error message.

Cannot display the folder. Microsoft Outlook cannot access teh specified folder location. Network problems are preventing connection to Microsoft Exchange.

How can we fix this?

We used the following procedures to move the Public Folders.

.\MoveAllReplicas.ps1 -Server Server01 -NewServer Server02  This did not work. It gave us the following error:

We have also tried moving them from the old server from within the Exchange System Manager.

Administrative Groups\First Administrative Group\Server\(server name)\First Storage Group\Public Folder Store.

I right-clicked and chose Move All Replicas

The new public folder database shows up and I clicked OK twice and it seemed to run through with no issues.

I have installed Rollup 1 Update on my MS Exchange 2010 SP2 server: now I have several error messages in Event Log and all the sent mails in "Poison Queue".

No problem with received mails: OWA works perfectly.

Several errors:

hi i am running ex2010 sp2 on windows 2008 sp2, i inherited the environment(which was built by Microsoft MCS)

i am struggling to understand how OWA redirection is happening , its working on all cas servers but i can't see any http redirection configured on IIS m any idea how its configured? please help 

Exchange Server 2010 SP2. Mail/Hub/CAS. No Edge server.

I have an external company providing anti-virus/anti-spam scanning, so all mail is being recieved and sent through this external company.

Problem:

When *someone* from the internet sends an email to a Contact in my Exchange Org. using my local domain (where my Exchange Org. is responsible), the message is recieved by my Exchange Server, and then automatically forwarded to the external SMTP-address in the foreign domain. So far so good.
When my Exchange Server tries to submit the message to the external company handling our scanning, their server rejects the message with "550 Relaying not allowed".

And that is understandable. The mail from my server has an unknown From-address in header.

I need to fix this at my end if at all possible. I looked into Address Rewrinting with a Transport Agent, but that requires either an Edge Server, or programming skills for writing a custom Agent for my Hub server. I have neither.

Is there a way to route mail sent to my Contacts, to a certain smart host or through a specific Send Connector, so I can by-pass the external company, to work around this issue?

Hi, 

One of our guys types and email address and when it resolves (Ctrl+K) it resolves the email address with a full stop at the end of the address. I have removed the suggested contact but it still resolves the same. I have not tried resetting the full suggested contact list yet as I would like to avoid this but I was hoping there was another this could be fixed. 

The user is running outlook 2010 and we are running exchange 2010 sp1 in hosted mode.

• 1 stretched DAG (between main datacenter and Disaster Recovery Site)
• DAG with 3 member servers: 2 members at our main data center site. We just added one DAG member to our Disaster Recovery (DR) site in order to achieve site resilience
• 2 HT/CAS Servers in a NLB Array at main datacenter
• 1 HT/CAS Servers in Disaster Recovery Site

GOAL: Activate site resilience for our Exch 2010 Email System

WHAT WE DID:

We have large databases at our main datacenter (over 230GB). Since usually seeding DBs over 200GB across a WAN increase the chances of seeding failure, we opted for the following approach:

1. Created a brand new DB for each of the existing DBs we had
2. Then, we created passive copies of each of the new empty DBs on the two mailbox servers in main datacenter and also on the mailbox server in DR site. Doing it this way we did not have to worry about seeding huge amounts of data across the WAN
3. Then the new DBs were replicated across the WAN almost instantly as the new DBs were obviously empty
4. The next step is to start moving mailboxes from old DBs to new DBs. Once again, doing it this way, data will be replicated from main datacenter to DR site progressively as mailboxes are being moved rather than trying to seed huge DBs over the WAN
5. Once we finish moving mailboxes from old to new DBs, we will delete the old DBs to free up space on our storage BOX

QUESTION:

I need some feedback from you experts

As you know, moving mailboxes generate a bunch of transaction log files. Based on the number of mailboxes I need to move from old to new databases, I was considering enabling (temporarily and only during the mailboxes move) circular logging on the new DBs as otherwise  I will have to perform backups constantly in order to flush the transaction logs (my transaction logs partitions are small in size). I did that when I moved mailboxes from Exch 2007 to Exch 2010 and I did not have any issues. The thing now is that a DAG is involved and I’m not quite sure how the use of circular logging will affect the replication and the passive copy of the DB in the DR site taking into consideration that I have setup lagged copies to DR site with a delay of 24 hours.

According to the theory, “Circular Logging allows Exchange to overwrite transaction log files after the data that the log files contain has been committed to the database” so I think I should be ok but wanted to get a feedback from someone that had probably do over this particular scenario

As stated above I'm planning to turn on circular logging on the new DBs...is this the way to go or do we also need to turn on circular logging on the old DBs?

We are noticing a wierd issue where, when a meeting invite is forwarded by a Exchange 2010 users to a Exchange 2003 user, we are seeing that a NDR is received.

The NDR is below

I would like to know if I have my OWA configured for Basic Authentication then when I set manually the Private and Public values in Windows Registry to change the Time Out values for 120 and 5, respectively, that values are respects.

Or must I enable the FBA in OWA directory?

We have recently migrated to Exchange 2010 sp1 from Exchange 2003.  Since the migration we have issues with multiple IOS devices (iPhone/iPads) and ActiveSync.  The issue we are seeing device side is mail will remain stuck in the outbox or the device will fail to connect to the server properly to retrieve mail.  This is only experienced on a few of our total IOS devices and not all of them.  The server side shows a generic error 1008 with the following context:

The error server side seems to follow the device side issue of email being very slow to send or never actually sending at all.  We have tried restoring a few of these devices to factory settings by reloading the IOS but no effect from that. 

Also the exchange testing utilities shows everything green and shows no external issues with activesync using this users account.  We have also checked to make sure inheritable permissions are checked and they are for all users.

We had a SAN failure and our Exchange 2010 Edge Server went offline (we are running VMware)
The SAN has been fixed (without data loss) but seems our ADAM dabatase has become corrupt and the service wont start

MSExchange (4420) MSExchange: Corruption was detected during soft recovery in logfile D:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\TransportRoles\Data\Adam\edb.log. The failing checksum record is located at position END. Data not matching the log-file fill pattern first appeared in sector 134 (0x00000086). This logfile has been damaged and is unusable.

Hi,

I have a command I run once a month from the Command line on one of my Windows 2003 Servers.  I want to automate this using PowerShell.  The command is just 3 words and it runs a process that takes about 30 to 35 minutes.  I want to use Schedule Task to run this using PowerShell.  I have tested this just running it from PowerShell and it works and I have it piping to a txt file which that works as well.  Now for the schedule task side is where I am having problems I have the command in PowerShell and I have the Schedule Task pointed for run to the file that has the command in it.  But it will not run can some one help with this.  I am sure I am missing some other commands or coding to get this to work.
