exchange 2010 management console - cannot view server configuration

Hye,

 

I've windows server 2008 r2 with exchange 2010. Exchange 2010 was installed inside window server 2008 r2. Exchange 2010 have a CAS server,mailbox server and hub transport all inside. Suddenly when i opened my exchange management console, i cant see server server configuration. What is the causes and how to solve this issue?

Disabling "edit phone number" for users

I would like to make the Phone Number attribute Read only for users (ie - right now they are able to edit their phone numbers in OWA), as we want phone numbers in AD in a specific format for Lync.  How do I accomplish making this a read only attribute so they don't have access to edit it?

exchange 2010 and corrupted pdf files

We have a problem. since migrating sbs2003 and exchange 2003 to server2008 and exchange 2010, we now expierance corrupted pdf files when we email them. The files are ok until they are emailed. this is happening both to internal emails and incomming emails when there is a pdf as a attachment. we are running a sonicwall tz210 firewall. we think it is happening between the firewall and exchange. Any ideas?

How do I setup " Empty the Deleted Items folder when I sign out " in Outlook Web App for all mailboxes

Hi All,

We are running on Exchange 2010 with Service Pack 3. There are around 1000 users who access their mailbox only through Outlook Web App and they don't use any other email clients to access their emails. Would like to enable the option - " Empty the Deleted Items folder when I sign out " for all mailboxes to clear their deleted items folders when they sign out.

How do we enable this feature for all these mailboxes centrally?

Secondary SMTP address from CSV

I have reviewed many blogs and forum posts but none of them worked for me, I didn't understand why.

I have a csv file as follows

Email,Alias

test1@domain.com,additional1@domain.com

test1@domain.com,additional2@domain.com

test1@domain.com,additional3@domain.com

test2@domain.com, additional22@domain.com

test2@domain.com, additional222@domain.com

...

I need to add $_.Alias addresses to the mailboxes $_.Email

I tried many scripts but couldn't succeed. Can anyone help me?

Public folders on Exchange 2010 using Outlook 2013

I just added an Exchange 2010 Server(running WinSvr 2012) to my Org that now has 2 Exchange 2003 svr.

On the Exch 2010 server, using the Public Folder Management Console, I added the other exch server to replication.

Used PFDevAdmin and setup replicas to the new server, folder by folder.

I setup Auto-Discovery in DNS

I have not done anything with address book and free / busy  yet on the new Exch 2010 svr

I moved my mailbox to the new server.

Rebooted the Exch 2010server.

I can access Public Folders from Outlook 2010 on my Terminal Server, but can't from Outlook 2013 on my PC.

What am I missing...?

IE10 on Win7 and OWA 2010 can't drag and drop

I've upgraded to IE10 for win7.  When I login to OWA for exchange 2010, I notice I can't drag and drop emails into any folders.  Compatibility mode doesn't work either.  The only way for it to work is to go into developer mode and force "Document Mode" to "IE 9 standards".

How do we post bugs for the exchange team to fix?  I'm sure they have to update the OWA code to fix this.

I have the following problem in my event log on a Exchange 2010 SP1 server.
(Running on a Windows 2008 R2 Server)

Content Indexing function 'CISearch::EcGetRowsetAndAccessor' received an unusual and unexpected error code from MSSearch.
Mailbox Database: "dbname"
Error Code: 0x80041606

Event ID: 9877
Source: MSExchangeIS Mailbox Store

Users complain they dont get full results when they search in Outlook 2010.

On other posts i saw to rerun the Setup /preparead again but this did not solve the problem
On another post i saw to recreate the full index search. Also this did not solve the problem
also someone claimed to received to have a hotfix for this problem however i could not find an article for this hotfix.

I hope someone can help with this issue.

Recover deleted contacts

I found a previous thread on this, but does not quite address my problem. I have a user, has Outlook 2010, on an Exchange 2010 environment. He creates contact lists as a contact. Yesterday he deleted one. The previous thread said to check his deleted items folder, but Outlook 2010 does not move contacts to the deleted items folder when they are deleted. I tested this on my machine to verify this.

So my question is, how does one recover a single item like "contacts"?

Send Attachment Size Limit Change

Hello. We need to change the attachment size limit that people are allowed to send.

2 questions:

1- Do we change that setting on the Send Connector?

2- After we change it do we need to do anything else like restart any services etc?

The reason that I ask the second questions is that I have changed the attachment size setting on the Send Connector but there is still email with large attachment sizes stuck in the queue.

Furthermore the sizes on the Hub Transport/Global Settings/Transport Settings are more than adequate and there are no size limit settings specified in their Active Directory account.

We are running Exchange 2010 SP3

multimailbox search restriction

Hi,

I am adding a user to discoverysearch group but I also want to restrict him for searching spesific mailboxes, or spesific ou etc.

I host multiple companies in this exchange. Each are in different OUs.I need him to be able to search user mailboxes which are in specific ou.

Is there a way to do a restriction like this?

HELP!!! I am experiencing challenges upgrading from Exchange 2010 SP2 RU6 to Exchange 2010 SP3.

Every attempt fails during the HUB Transport Role installation.

Exchange is running on Windows 2008R2 SP1.

How to do a discovery search on a recovery database

I have a request to do a discovery search for specific email messages. No problem, except they now want me to restore some old databases and search through them, too.  So, I've restored one of the databases to a recovery database and now need to run a discovery search on it. How do I do that? Do I need to merge each mailbox in the recovery database to an existing user (I've created one for this purpose) and run the search one mailbox at a time? If so, how do I merge the restored mailbox in the recovery db to an existing user? I think I ran across the way to do the merge, but now I can't find it.

I created a new Room Mailbox with AutoAccept. With accounts in our organization it works but if I want reserve the room from my hotmail account the AutoAccept didn't work. How can I configure that? (Exchange 2010)

Exchange 2010/Outlook 2010 Security Alert (...there is a problem with the site's security certificate.)

I've been looking to resolve this issue for a while now and was hoping someone could help me understand my options.

We have Exchange 2010 & Outlook 2010 in our environment. I've created a SSL cert for our ActiveSync from a reputable CA and unfortunately, as you may not be surprised, we are seeing an alert each time we open Outlook that states:

"Security Alert; Information you exchange with this site cannot be viewed or changed by others. However, there is a problem with the site's security certificate.The name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site."

Of course my internal server name does not match my external server name. So the SSL I had created for use with OWA and ActiveSync is rejected by my internal Outlook clients.

After doing some research I believe this is related to the Autodiscover service being configured with my internal server name and not my external name. 

I've found some info about adding New-AutodiscoverVirtualDirectory and Set-ClientAccessServer commands and then found this article that might help.  (Configure Outlook Anywhere to Use Multiple SSL Certificates) but nothing is specific to my configuration and I'm concerned about what will happen to my existing configuration if this fails. 

What happens when you run Set-ClientAccessServer? Does it retain and keep the old server config in place and add a new one or does it wipe it out? Will all of my devices need to be reconfigured?

Same with New-AutodiscoverVirtualDirectory.  Does this simply add another virtual directory or is it going to overwrite my existing config?

Then there is the question of whether or not any of this will actually address my issue at all.

Creating Recovery Database from EDB file on a remote location or shared network folder

Hi,

I need to create a Recovery database from an Edb file located on a Shared folder on another machine in the same network.

I tried to give EDBFilePath path like \\192.168.1.89\F\Exchange\EDB1.edb in the New-MailboxDatabase cmdlet and executed

the cmdlet from Exchange Managemnt 2010 shell .

However, it failed saying an error in EDBFilepath.  it should be absolute, local or long filepath name.

1. Does that mean that it is not possible to create an Exchange Recovery DB from an edb on a shared network folder on another sever.

 2. Can we create recovery database on a mailbox Exchange server  by executing a Remote Powershell cmdlet on a  Client access server on another machine, from an EDB file located on the mailbox server. if yes , how ?
