Outlook 2010 SP1
Scenario:
Users to click on a email hyperlink but only part of the name shows. Ex: 'am&dispatch@contoso.com' . When a user add a link to that email address on the intranet and someonle clicks on it only the "am"shows in the "TO" box.
I'd like to rectify all of these emails by deleting the "&" in them without having to create an alias. So I'll be renaming the email addresses.
If I do this what are the repercussions if any?

Outlook anywhere Clients not connecting
Hi All,
I have recently set up Outlook anywhere on an Windows 2008 SP 2 box with Exchange 2010 and installed a 3rd SSL certificate bought explicitly for this purpose.
I'm having real issues trying to connect any outlook clients from the outside world. OWA works fine and doesn't ask for a certificate so I know that has installed successfully.
I have tried all combinations both basic and NTLM authentication I can think of to no avail.
The remote connectivity analyser tool (https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/) passed everything bar and only shows a couple of warnings which I believe I can safely ignore:
1 - Your certificate may not be trusted on Windows if the "Update Root Certificates" feature isn't enabled
2 - The first refferal (without encryption) fails, but the subsequent one is successfull (require encryption is set up on my client)
All I'm getting on my client is a username and password box, once entering the authenticaition details it keeps on asking for authentication, then when cancelled throws an error that the server is not contactable and the name could not be resolved.
I can telnet to my fqdn (webmail.mycompany.com) on ports 80 and 443 with no issues.
Does anybody have any idea what I can do to troubleshoot this? It's been driving me insane for weeks!

fastest way to backup exchange
just curious what others are using to backup exchange? we have a mailstore of about 300 gigs or so. we are using symantec backupexec to back up to a NAS device. It's taking around 10 hours or so to fully backup exchange and we have about 400 users currently on exchange. However, my company is also using another email platform in addition to exchange and we will be migrating an additional 800 users over to exchange within the next year.
I'm just curious what some of you who may have terabytes of email and 1000s of users are backing up to? Fibre Channel?

Emergency help please, ESM WinRM broken, kerbauth missing
Hi all,
I've been working on an emergency situation this whole weekend and I'm losing my mind. Let me start off by saying I've tried EVERY suggested solution I can find (aka lots of things tried!!)
ESM and Exchange powershell won't run, standard WinRM issue.
I've narrowed it down to the kerbauth module in PowerShell virtual directory in IIS. Before it wasn't showing up as a module in that VD, and wasn't an option to add it. Now it's showing up, but it's blank. Please see the screenshot here: http://i54.tinypic.com/2qvd1tk.png . The type is "managed module" not native module like it should be. My research shows that if it says managed module, then you need to disable it in Default Web Site. But that's the problem, it doesn't show up at all in Default Web Site.
Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this? Any suggestions will be considered (if I haven't tried it already of course!)

Exchange 2010 - owa/auth.owa Bad Request
We just set up an Exchange 2010 server. When we try to use OWA and go to options > Set Automatic Replies, I get a logon prompt, however when I try to logon, it gives me a -
HTTP 404 Bad Request
The webpage cannot be found
and the page it's trying to go to is http://ExchangeServer/owa/auth.owa. I looked through the OWA directory and I don't even see an auth.owa file.
Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Outlook keeps prompting for password
This is a weird situation. User logs in to domain without issues and is able to access outlook. However, during the middle of the day, outlook keeps prompting user for authentication or password.
Profile has been re-created. ESSO cache was cleared, but still the same thing. Created separate email profile for other email accounts she access, but same issue still occurs.
Has anyone seen this issue and what resolution have you used.

Upgrade Windows 2008 R2 sp1 on an Exchange 2010 SP3 server
I have looked high and low for an answer to this question:
1. I have Windows 2008 R2 running Exchange 2010 SP3
2. Can I upgrade Windows 2008 R2 to SP1 with Exchange 2010 SP3 onboard?
3. Are there pre-requisites for doing this?
4. If so, where can I get the documentation?
I have spent hours looking through Google and Technet. Lots of information about compatibility of 2008 R2 and Exchange SP1 and SP2.
Your wisdom and experience would be appreciated. Thank you!!

how to do online db maintenance
Exchange 2010 sp3 DAG, Windows 2008 R2 sp1
many weeks back our mailbox servers suffered from lack of hd space which I finally found was caused by the indexer. since then, I've kept the indexer disabled.
now, i'm running out of hd space again. and since the indexer is disabled, i'm thinking it could be because of whitespaces in the databases. I found this article Database Maintenance in Exchange where speaks of using ESEUTIL which is fine. however, one comment talks about being able to do whitespace defragging while the databases are mounted (it's the first comment).
question now is, how do I find where are the passive database copies? if my databases are mounted on MB01, are the passive database copies on MB02?

Hide exchange server FQDN
I have a requirement where the customer wants to hide the exchange server FQDN from user profiles for some users. MOstly users using outlook anywhere but the customer does not want the exchange server name to appear in the account in outlook.
It is an acquisition scenario where company1 has acquired company2. They don't want company2 users to be able to see the exchange server name, when they connect via outlook anywhere. They also want GAL segmentation but that's another subject. For this question I just want to know if there is anyway that exchange server name does not appear in client profile?
The server is exchange 2010 in single server mode with all the roles on one server. The server name is something like exchsvr.company1.com . The idea is to hide the "company1" part and have some different FQDN appear. How can I make sure it does
not appear for select users and they see something else instead? It would also be OK if ALL users see something different, just not the actual server name (FQDN). Can I use some other alias for this or some other method?

How can I change or delete primary SMTP address of mail contacts?
By mistake, one of our Admin has applied default email address policy (we can say test.ad) for all recipient. There were 15000 mail contacts from different domains or companies. Policy has been applied to all those. How can i revert to old or delete the primary SMTP (test.ad) in one command.<o:p></o:p>

Change .local to .com to resolve SSL certificate mismatch
Hello all,
As you all may know, when purchasing and implementing SSL certificates .local is no longer allowed on a cert (see: https://www.networking4all.com/en/ssl+certificates/faq/change+san+issue/).
We set up a new domain at a customer and as we do with all, named it domainname.local. Set it up as normal, and then set up Exchange 2010 on a separate server. We set up the Exchange server externally with the FQDN of mail.emaildomain.com (note, emaildomain and domainname are in fact different names).
We purchased a UCC cert with the name of emaildomain.com and set it up with 2 alt names of mail.emaildomain.com and autodiscover.emaildomain.com. We used to also set these certs up with mail.domainname.local but again this is no longer allowed. As expected, when opening Outlook 2010 we get certificate mismatch notices for mail.domainname.local.
Question: How do I modify this so that this cert mismatch disappears? I followed the steps here https://www.networking4all.com/en/support/ssl+certificates/manuals/microsoft/exchange+2010/modify+.local/ but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated, and of course if you need more info just ask and I will be happy to supply!

Is it possible to restrict access of certain folders on a mailbox which a user has full permission too?
For example, if i give access to my mailbox to a domain Admin, would i be able to not give him access of particular folders?
This is in an Exchange 2010Sp1 enterprise.
Additionally
when i set Auditing, and export mailbox logs. I get an email, but no data!
I have enabled logging and checked all the settings are correct in Powershell
I have also taken over a test mailbox as an admin to cause a log, but still the log is empty!

Implementing DR site for Exchange in different Site - Prerequisites from AD End
Dear all,
I need urgent help as we stuck at one point.
We have one Exchange 2010 set up. we are implementing Same setup in DR site.
Be low is my setup.
DC:
CAS/HUB Servers in NLB, count is 2.
MBX servers in DAG, countis 2.
DR site:
Only ONE CAS/HUB Server.
MBX Servers in DAG, count is 2.
I am getting Below error during exchange installation in DR site.
" Setup encountered a problem while validating the state of active directory : Could not find Active Directory Site to which this server belongs. "
I am damn sure that missing something from AD but not aware of AD much.
Immediate help could help us our time.

This computer does not belongs to a valid active directory site. Check the site and sub-net configuration.

Is there an export tool availible to do this? Can lotus notes email be exported to a pst file?
we are migrating from LN to EX and no mail will be migrated at the server.

Exchange 2010 Management Console Initialization failed
Hi.
I have a server running 2008R2 as a domain controller with Exchange 2010 aswell.
This is a fairly new migration from a sbs2003 server, which went very well, in regards to exchange and AD.
The management console has worked since the migration, but suddenly today it stopped working, with the following message (the message is actually from the management shell, which isn't working either.):
[dc.domain.local] Connecting to remote server failed with the following error message : The WS-Management service cannot
process the request. The system load quota of 1000 requests per 2 seconds has been exceeded. Send future requests at
a slower rate or raise the system quota. The next request from this user will not be approved for at least 975630592 milliseconds.

IIS is working, and listening on ports 80 and 443.
All services are running. I have tride to restart IIS, Windows Remote Management, informationstore and system attendant, but still no luck.
I hope you can help me figure this out.

Mailbox corruptions
Hi,
I have spent hours looking for answers for my questions on blogs and forums and hope will find the answer in this thread :) .
I'm running a exchange SP3RU4 and seing recently the below warnings on App events:
- Indexing backlog for multiple databases on server.
- Event id : 10033 , A folder is being scoped by a search which no longer exists : this is occuring for at least 100 mailboxes(around 1% of the total number) on mulitple servers/DBs.
I have tried repairing some mailboxes(using powershell command new-mailboxrepairerequest) and the error is now gone.
My questions are :
- Does these errors (2.) impact the indexing mechanisms/perofrmance? So maybe a potential reasons for the alert 1. ?
- Do we know why such courrption may occur?
- Is it recommended to run bulk cleanup on all these mailboxes? get the full list of impacted mailboxes then run the repair command against them.
