Problem with interoperability of Exchange 2003 and 2010

Hi,

I have recently migrated from Exchange 2003 to 2010. I migrated only few users. The users who have been migrated are able to send mail to each other as well as mails to users having their mailboxes in 2003. But the users in 2003 are not able to send mails to people having mailbox in 2010.

Moreover, I have created a routing group connector, still the problem isn't solved.

Exchange 2010 to 2003 public folder replication

Hi - I am completing a migration from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010. We currently use Public folders and I have successfully managed to configure the replication to our new Exchange 2010 environment. The problem I am having is that there is no replication back to 2003 from 2010 public folders. For reasons I won't bother going into, we need 2 - 3 weeks to move all the mailboxes and decommission Exchange 2003. During this time it is important that the changes made in public folders on 2010 are seen in 2003. Using message tracking I can see Exchange2003-IS@Company.com messages coming from the 2010 environment to the delivery queue on the 2003 server but after turning diagnostic logging to max (on Exchange 2003), I can see no incoming replication events for public folders on ex 2003 - only outgoing. Any ideas please. Thanks.

Exchange 2010, Outlook 2010

I've created a room list distribution group) with two room mailboxes as members of it.

- Via EMC, create a distribution group (Name : Buiding01, alias : Building01)

- Convert to room list DG : set-distribution group -identity "Building01" -roomlist

- Via EMC, create two conference room mailboxes (Roomconf01, Roomconf01)

- Via EMC add Roomconf01 & roomconf02 as members of Buiding01 distribution group

- In Outlook when I schedule a meeting using the room finder I select Building01 in "Show room list" box but the room list is empty.

Any help ?

Regards.

Ex 2007 / 2010 CAS coexistance

In all of the CoExistance threads / technet articles I have read, it seems an assumption is made that you will be swinging over to 2010 right away, and proxying to 2007 as legacy.

The environment I am in we are not allowed to do that.  We cannot make any changes to the 2007 environment until after testing, pilot, and then migrations will begin to occur.  We have over 12000 users that cannot be impacted in any way, and this will not be an overnight / weekend project.

So, the main question:  Is there a way that I can use (point 2010 CAS to) the 2007 production environment virtual directories for my OAB, Free Busy etc so that I can test and pilot my 2010 environment using an Outlook client?

When I run get-oabvirtualdirectory I get the names of the current 2007 CAS array.

When I run test-outlookwebservices I get a Dr Watson warning error and "failed to find the mailbox <extestxxxx@xxxx.com" (assuming this is a system MB in the 2007 environment)

Any assistance greatly appreciated,

Thanks

Cross forest OWA?

Mailboxes are on Exchange 2007 in forest A, we have Exchange 2010 in forest B:  There is a two-way trust between them.

We will eventually migrate mailboxes into the resource forest B but users will stay in A.  Would I would like to do before the mailbox migration is redirect all OWA traffic to the Exchange 2010 CAS servers in forest B and then have the CAS server direct to the 2007 CAS OWA.  I have forms based authentication on the 2010 cas server and when I put in my username and password, I get an error Access is denied. The Active Directory resources couldn't be accessed.  They may be because the Active Directory object doesn't exist, or the object has become corrupted, or because you don't have correct permissions.

Is what I am trying to do possible?  If so, I would also like the redirect to go to a specific 2007 cas server OWA instance.

Thanks

Hi,

How can i delete the organizer who left from the company from all room mailboxes? Because this is making a issue for future reservation for the existing users.

i tried the below. but this is deleting only the meetings requests, not from the room mailbox. I need to delete room booking by the organizer who is terminated from the company from the all room mailboxes

search-mailbox -id roommailbox -searchquery "kind:meetins from:sankar_munirathinam" -deletecontent

2 DAGs on the same subnets?

$

We have two DAGs (DAG1 and DAG2).  DAG1 has been running for a year.  We had 2 mailbox servers and 2 CAS/HT servers in Site A and in Site B.  We have an MPLS connection between the sites for MAPI and we also have a replication circuit for the replication.  We have successfully failed over (on purpose and as a result of failures) with little impact to the users (their outlook said their admin made changes and they closed and reopened and were connected to the mb in Site B).

Now I have built out a second DAG (DAG2) and added 1 mailbox server and 1 CAS/HT server to each site.  Shuffled some databases around and basically have DAG1 with 2 mb servers in Site A and 1 in Site B, and DAG2 with 2 mb servers in Site B and 1 in Site A.

My question is can I have DAG2 use the same MAPI and replication subnets as DAG1?

IMAP4 Secure TLS implementation

I'm enabling IMAP4 within our Exchange 2010 enviornment.

We have a cert. already on the exchange server assigned to IMAP.

What requirments are needed for the client in order to connect?

Is there a good article anyone knows of which will outline this process?

Undeliverable emails not coming back through distribution group

$

Hi everyone

Is it possible to have undeliverable emails go back to a distribution group and then to the members of that group?

We use a ticketing system here and have a distribution group called support@domain.ca.  If I sent mail from this address to a non-existent address, I see on the Exchange server it failed, but no undeliverable message was returned to us.

Maybe this makes sense and there's a reason I'm unaware of for this not to work.

Thanks

Exchange 2010 public folder - trailing space in CN

$

Dear All

We recently migrated a client from exchange 2003 to exchange 2010. After migration we found about 1500 public folder with invalid names. Powershell helped to clean most of this up, but we are still stuc with abount 64 folders that have a trailing whitespace at the end of the CN. Not one of the properties of the object.

We tried changing the name, alias etc. but it all says that there is not trailing whitespace in there. When opening adsiedit I can see the trailing space on the CN, but not in the properties. AdsiEdit doesnot allow me to change this CN as it tells me it is in use by the system.

Currently only the public folders address list gives some errors but I would realy like to clean this up. Is there any way to change this CN in a safe way?

Kind regards,

Marco

Trying to create an LDAP-based Dynamic filter

Hi,

I've an old Dyn Group (from 2003) which was based off an LDAP query of:

(&(!cn=SystemMailbox{*})(&(&(&(& (mailnickname=*) (| (&(objectCategory=person)(objectClass=user)(!(homeMDB=*))(!(msExchHomeServerName=*)))(&(objectCategory=person)(objectClass=user)(|(homeMDB=*)(msExchHomeServerName=*)))(&(objectCategory=person)(objectClass=contact))(objectCategory=group)(objectCategory=publicFolder)(objectCategory=msExchDynamicDistributionList) )))(objectCategory=user)(physicalDeliveryOfficeName=Somewhere))))

In theory, that can be reduced in 2010 to a recipient filter something like:{ ((RecipientType -eq 'UserMailbox') –and (Office -eq 'Home')) }

But if I try creating the group I get:

IncludedRecipients: [PS] C:\Windows\system32>New-DynamicDistributionGroup -Name "All-Teleworkers" -RecipientFilter { ((RecipientType -eq 'UserMailbox') -and (Office -eq 'Home')) }
Invoke-Command : Cannot bind parameter 'RecipientFilter' to the target. Exception setting "RecipientFilter": """ is not

" ((RecipientType -eq 'UserMailbox') -and (Office -eq 'Home')) " at position 37."

Exchange web service 2010 issue while assign the primarysmtpaddress for impersonation

m_esb.ExchangeImpersonation =New ExchangeImpersonationType()

m_esb.ExchangeImpersonation.ConnectingSID =New ConnectingSIDType()

m_esb.ExchangeImpersonation.ConnectingSID.PrimarySmtpAddress = “manishp2ambitsoftware.com”

Error 1 'ConnectingSIDType' does not contain a definition for 'PrimarySmtpAddress'

Same is working fine with EWS 2007.

As I see in my EWS2010 proxy class there is no such property to set PrimarySmtpAddress in ConnectingSIDType class. Which is there in EWS2007. Please let me know how I can use PrimarySmtpAddress  with ExchangeImpersonation in EWS2010.

Warning - Multiple default gateways are intended to provide .... when changing DNS IP

I get the following message when i update the DNS IP on my exchange server

Warning - Mutiple default gateways are intended to provide redundancy to a single network (such as a intranet or the internet) They will not function properly when the gateways are on two seperte, disjoint networks (such as one on your intranet and one on the internet) Are you sure you want to save the settings?

Now, I am only changing the Primary and Secondary DNS server, bot serves are still in the same subnet.

So, is this message reguardless of any change i've made? Am i able to change the DNS servers and still have it function properly, I don't see why I am getting this message as the gateway is still the same. so can i click yes? Please advise

Complete Pending Request not visible after importing cert to Intermediate Certificate Authorities

I've followed the instructions to the letter from GoDaddy's how-to: http://community.godaddy.com/help/5863/installing-an-ssl-certificate-in-microsoft-exchange-server-2010

I'm trying to add an SSL cert to a new Exchange 2010 install. When I import the Intermediate Cert, the system indicates that the import was successful and the cert is ok, but when I go back into the EMC, there is no pending request to complete (the Complete Pending Request option does not appear under Server Configuration). The event viewer does not indicate any errors, so I am at a loss for what to try next.

Any ideas?

Exchange 2010 to 2003 Issue with RPC over HTTPS Proxy

$

Hi,

Were currently Migrating from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010, whilst were in the process of moving we've been trying to get rpc over https for the 2K3 users but with testexchangeconnectivity.com I’m currently getting the following error: Attempting to ping RPC endpoint 6001 (Exchange Information Store) on server EX2k3.domain.local. The RPC_S_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE error (0x6ba) was thrown by the RPC Runtime process.

Exchange 2010(front end) Box:

Servername: EX2K10.domain.local
External DNS: mail1.domain.com
RpcProxy\Valid Ports: EX2K10:6001-6002;EX2K10:6004;EX2K10.domain.local:6001-6002;EX2K10.domain.local:6004

Exchange 2003 Box:
Servername: EX2K3.domain.local
External DNS: mail2.domain.com RpcProxy\Valid Ports: EX2K3:6001-6002;EX2K3:6004;EX2K3.domain.local:6001-6002;EX2K3.domain.local:6004

A few More details: There’s no firewalling between them. In ESM 2K3 is set to a back end server(have tried setting to a front end also). They are both listening on port 6001. Basic Authentication is enabled on both.

Any help would be great!

Creating a CAS Array Post MBX Deployment

$

So I wanted to comment on this:

Demystifying the CAS Array Object Part 2 and ask a question.

If you have already deployed, and all the of the Outlook clients are pointing to the local name (non Array), then go back and try to fix this, only the new users from there on out will be correctly fixed without going to each machine and updating it's profile.  What if instead, you create the array, set the array, then create a new database on the same mailbox server, move the users from the old database to a new database.  Would this automatically take care of the whole problem and no one would be the wiser on the client side?
